Started dutasteride a couple months ago after a year of relative maintenance on finasteride and it's chewed my hairline.
Nw1-1.5 like that.

i have photos so it's not in my head

I was only interested in keeping my NW1, imo you may aswell not have hair at a nw2 and above.
Anyway, i'll book a hair transplant to fill in the temples and hope for the best as these bunk drugs do absolutely nothing for me whatsoever.
I'll add in ru and spironolactone soon and swap from foam minoxidil to liquid and literally bathe my temples in it.

It's really obvious, i have a mole i use to judge my hairline by and it's receded compared to the last picture i took

i'm convinced these treatments don't work for 50% of the population

how likely is it i can fill in my temples and remain a nw1 until my 40's. 22 now

If you are losing ground on dutasteride, you should consider actual anti-androgens in my opinion. You shouldn’t use spironolactone, as you will have to use a 200MG/day to see slight effectiveness. However, it’s still such a weak anti-androgen and caused gynecomastia in 50% of patients within studies. And, it’s anti-androgenic effects is indirect as it’s a diuretic. In my opinion it isn’t worth it, especially since within women it is rarely effective for treating female pattern hair loss and they generally opt for flutamide instead, which is shown within studies to combat FPHL effectively.

You should use bicalutamide instead, as it has a more desirable safety profile along with posing a lesser risk of sexual side effects and gynecomastia. It’s significantly stronger than spironolactone, and is similar in effectiveness as higher doses of flutamide except bicalutamide doesn’t pose the significant risks of hepatic issues.

Definitely going to look into bicalutamide. I assume i'm high testosterone due to how easy it is for me to build muscle so i doubt lowering it will impact me too much.

Safest way forward will be to monitor my bloods before and after

I work on cruise ships so i'm literally paid for my looks. If i get either gyno or i start to visibly lose my hair my cash cow is completely gone

In my opinion, hair loss is significantly worse than gynecomastia; that can be surgically removed, and is significantly cheaper than a hair transplant. If you suspect that your testosterone levels are higher, you might have to start on a dose of 100MG/day for the initial seven days whilst it builds up. And then you can cut it down to 50MG/day.

It is scientifically impossible for dutasteride to actually accelerate your male pattern baldness. Due to the way it works chemically, Dutasteride can only possibly have a positive effect on your hair. Two months is honestly not long enough to be able to accurately determine whether the treatment is working or not. It is important to be patient and give it time. It would be helpful if we could see some before and after pictures also in your case. It appears to be common for people to notice an initial shed when starting dutasteride, but the shed is temporary and is a sign the treatment is actually working.

Too many people dont have results for me to be convinced dutasteride is effective

honestly ridiculous we don't have a cure. surely not all scientists can be so stupid

I am fairly convinced dutasteride messed my scalp up. I have no recollection of having a scalp itch prior to taking finasteride. So silly me I thought dutasteride might be better and tried it for about a month... And my scalp has been incredibly sensitive for months now. In fact I'm concerned it won't go away.
