Hello everyone at hair loss talk! I am a 23-year-old male who has been experiencing slight hair loss for a year. I can honestly say this all started July 4, 2014 when I went to go and do fieldwork for my job. Basically I couldn't be in the sun because I recently had fraxel for acne scars so I decided to work for six days straight with two hoods on and a beanie in 90+ degree weather while never washing my hair, in addition to wearing hair products for that six days. I never bothered to watch out hair wax so I just went the six-day straight without once taking off my hoodies even while I slept, and by the end of that. My scalp became really itchy, and I returned to normal work inside a building and then hair just started falling like crazy. Before that week, I stood never shed a lot of hair in the shower maybe like one or three but after that week around July 4, 2014, to this day my scalp has completely changed. I must mention that my family on my mom's side has slight hair loss , but no one above that is passed in Norwood three, my grandfather on my mother's side who is 80 is at an Norwood 2.5. So I do have receded temples but that happens slowly and I never shed it like I do now, all after that we can fieldwork around July 4, 2014. They hair loss related to my genetics has been way different from what I have been experiencing since July 4, 2014, my hair sheds a lot in after that we can fieldwork, when I started noticing a lot of hair was falling I decided to go to a dermatologist and he told me to get on minoxidil, I was also experiencing scalp pain, some pimples, flakes, and a scalp that was really sore(whenever I move my hair it would hurt). This all started after that week of fieldwork which I remember took place before July 42014 , but I'll just say was around July 4, 2014. I had no type of scalp irritation whatsoever before that date, none, and my hair was really thick but I did have a Norwood 2.5, recession around my temples. However, when the doctor told me to get on minoxidil I did and quite frankly it made my scalp worse, I was on minoxidil for seven months and it really made me shed and I didn't see regrowth related to hair that I had shouted after that July 4 week. It did make some hair grow back along my hairline related to my family slight history of hair loss, only I should mention no one absolutely no one in my family is bald or past a norwood 2.5. The back to the story I was on minoxidil and stopped around February because I really wasn't benefiting, and when I stopped my pain in my scalp instantly went away, I was surprised I thought maybe I was having some type of reaction to minoxidil, however the hair still started shedding even though it's around the normal 100 through 50 hairs a day my hair is starting to get pretty thin up top however no one in my family has a type of hairloss,(on top) it's just receded up front. Not to mention I also got on Nizoral for about nine months, and that did make some of my scalp irritation go away but I recently switched to dearmest shampoo for psoriasis from Walmart and that completely made all my scalp irritation that way. I can finally touch my hair and move it and not feel any soreness or any pain whatsoever. So I've been on dearmest shampoo for psoriasis since March 2015, which is completely made all my scalp soreness in pain and discomfort gone away, versus Nizoral which helped but I was amazed by how the pain this one away one space which shampoos. With Nizoral I still felt pain and still hurt and with dearmest shampoo for psoriasis, the pain completely 100%, or maybe like 99.9% went away. And during this entire time the hair that's been falling on the top of my head is almost similar to female pattern hair loss, however all the hair that's been shed has not been miniaturized at all, and I've studied the hair since that week in July 4, 2014. No hair that have lost has been miniaturized, I'm very certain as even though my hair looks little thin and wafty, I can still hide the slight thinning because none of my hair is miniaturized, it doesn't have the same texture and thinness "cotton candy hair", that a lot of people describe when it comes to male pattern. One more thing I should mention after that week of fieldwork around July 4, 2014, when I thought I could be going bald I got on finasteride three months after in the middle of September, and I've been taking it ever since. Finasteride is help me grow back a lot of the hairs on my hairline, but the hair on top is still shedding a lot and it's quite thin now been no miniaturization. Finasteride is deftly helped around my hairline but I'm still shedding the same amount of hair, yet the soreness, and discomfort is completely gone, yet I still see the occasional red bump or pimple on the head which makes me think I might have some folliculitis but I don't know. I'm still taking finasteride, every other day, and I used to take it every day until a few months ago. But the actual hair loss related to my family's history of male pattern is really slow, as the only one in my family with hair loss is my grandfather who is now 80 and is at a Norwood 2.5. Things TO NOTICE, this all started, and I really mean it all started-my scalp has a mind of its own- after that week of fieldwork when I decided it was good idea to wear to hoodies and a beanie and work from 7 AM to 6 PM every day for six days, with hair wax that I never bothered washout still in my hair. I was in the middle of the desert with a few others so I was sleeping in a tent every night, and I wore the hoodie to protect from bugs as well. After that my scalp completely changed, and the hair still is falling consistently around 50 to 100 a day which is within the normal range but, the top of my scalp is looking thin, and it's just gotten worse as compared to before that week around July 4, 2014, when my hair was really thick and I had no scalp problems whatsoever, along with way less shedding. Before that week around July 4, 2014, I could run my hands through my hair repeatedly and I wouldn't lose any hair, it's much better now that I've been on dearmest shampoo for psoriasis, but sometimes I can run my hands in my hair and lose 30+, all around the top my scalp. I've been on finasteride since September 2014. And it's helped a lot around my hairline, the hair still falling same rate. I've been using Nizoral since around October 2014 till March 2015, and it helped a few times but dearmest shampoo for psoriasis seems to be the only shampoo that can relieve the irritation itchiness, soreness, inflammation, and general discomfort with my scalp. I've been to a doctor and he told me get on minoxidil which I was on since August 2014, to around February 2015, and it made me lose a lot of hair and I didn't really see too much going back so I stopped. And once I stopped a lot of the discomfort in my scalp when away, but some of it still persisted tie eventually got on dearmest shampoo which honestly made all those symptoms I described go away, maybe I'll get some scalp discomfort but that's only after I wear a hat or where my hood. If someone has any similar problems to me, or has any suggestions for what I might be experiencing please let me know, it's been going on for year and it's driving me crazy, now the hair is starting get pretty thin up top, But still no miniaturization whatsoever. I still get a few pimples on my scalp, and washing my hair every other day. Please help me someone lol!
