Totally upset about this. I'm in my late 30's and have never wet a bed in my teen / adult life before. Infact never recall wetting a bed ever.
Only thing thats changed in my life is that I'm on day 20 of finasteride. Could this be the reason?
Thanks.

Yes I know two other posters who claim they can't empty their bladders properly, always leaks after peeing.

But none as bad as this...

Jeesh, sorry to hear that dude, finasteride gives me an active bladder but I haven't got to this stage yet, perhaps you may be better off cutting your dosage.

Thanks, Im currently taking 0.5mg of finasteride daily. To the other poster, I actually wet the bed during my sleep. Dont have an issue with not being able to empty bladder.

Uh, yes. Especially considering that's what Finasteride (Propecia or Proscar) was designed to do -- shrink the prostate in men with BPH so they can have relief from urinary incontinence, for starters.

http://www.merck.com/product/usa/pi_cir ... ar_ppi.pdf

"What PROSCAR does
PROSCAR lowers levels of a key hormone called DHT (dihydrotestosterone), which is a major cause of prostate growth. Lowering DHT leads to shrinkage of the enlarged prostate gland in most men. This can lead to gradual improvement in urine flow and symptoms over the next several months. PROSCAR will help reduce the risk of developing a sudden inability to pass urine and the need for surgery. However, since each case of BPH is different, you should know that:

• Even though the prostate shrinks, you may NOT notice an improvement in urine flow or symptoms.

• You may need to take PROSCAR for six (6) months or more to see whether it improves your symptoms.

• Therapy with PROSCAR may reduce your risk for a sudden inability to pass urine and the need for surgery"

"Urine Flow
Men who took finasteride had an improvement in the rate of urine flow. This increased flow rate was seen as early as the fourth month after starting finasteride and continued throughout the entire study"

crap!

does this mean my prostate is damaged enough to where it will not control my bladder when i sleep?
What does your prostate do?
Your prostate has two important functions: one is to help control urination and the other is to help sexual activity.

The prostate has a so-called passive role in the process of urination. It helps to control the rate at which urine flows out of the bladder and into the urethra. It does this by the effect of muscle fibers in the prostate that surround the urethra.

The prostate also has an active role in sexual activity. The prostate gland makes a whitish glandular secretion which collects within the prostate and is fed into the urethra during ejaculation. This glandular secretion helps the motility of the sperm in the urethra and makes up about a third of the seminal fluid, thus giving seminal fluid its whitish appearance.
