Lots of various questions about using Propecia

first of all, i did not know about this site, its brill, i don't actually feel to alone after reading all the posts.

so for my first post, i want to ask a few different questions about propecia as i am becoming increasingly paranoid

(i guess its because i want to keep my hair as much as possible!!!)

anyway

iam 25, i take my propecia every day at the exact time ( within half hour of the day before, generally at 10am always on an empty stomach), i have done for 2 years, and feel the difference to an extent although recently i feel i am shedding more than usual. So i am getting worried i am doing something wrong. I live in the UK and have the tablets supplied from Boots and i also take vitamins tablets every day to

1. if i take my tablet at the wrong tome, like an hour later would this cause problems, as the half life is running out?

2. will propecia lose its effect if i go to the toilet not long after consuming Propecia, either pooing or urinating!??

3. if i spit put of my mouth after taking the tablet will this cause a problem with losing any of the medicine?

4. Narcotics, not every ones cup of tea, but if i drink a lot of alcohol the night before or take any other drugs (prescription and non prescription) will this cancel out the propecia, or less the effect of the medicine??

5. This may sound rather silly but i have previously, but can i actually take (consume) Propecia on an airplane? does the medicine lose any effect if i took it on a plane?

6. Traveling, im planning on moving around alot and doing abit of traveling, im worried that the hot and humid temperatures may effect the actual tablet, is this possible?? (this also ties in with the timing if taking the pill every day and the different time zones i will be visiting, will this completely muck up my Propecia schedule.


i really want to say thanks for reading my issues which i have been bottling up, if you could answer any of the questions i would be most grateful. I think some of this worry also comes from when i first started taking propecia, as intialy before i went to Boots, i went to see my doctor and he said it could work but if i missed a dosage i would lose all effects and have to start again :shakehead: . He was most unhelpful!!!

thanks for the advice, however i would not feel comfortable purchaing propecia through the post and from india. I like the service at boots and the securityy. i call for advice and they take pictures. And if i am running low i can just pop down and get some more. Also i have saved a lot of points so every year or so i get a free batch wit the points..

First of all I am not a medical doctor, but your digestive system should be able to absorb most of the nutrients and minerals you put in it. With finasteride, there is no recommended time for the pill or there is no recommendation to take it before or after meals. That probably means that the digestive system is able to absorb the finasteride no matter what.

I have read in this forum that some users think it is absorbed much more efficiently on an empty stomach. However, I don't think that's the case. I think it is probably absorbed quicker because the digestive system doesn't have anything else to absorb, but that doesn't mean it is more efficient.

You are worrying for nothing. It doesn't matter how you take it, it will make its way into your blood stream. Even if you do miss the odd pill, there still will be enough finasteride in your blood to do its job.

you say yes about question 5, would advice not to take my propecia on a plane? im flying tomo and worried it wont have any effect? is this true. When i say 'take' i mean i will pop the pill on the plane, is this ok??? please help, cuase im flying tomo morning!! many thanks

5 Is actually two questions, while I'm sure there are no problems with taking it on a plane, you can just wait till you arrive, or take it before you leave, it's not that time critical.

That said, be wary where you travel to with *any* medication, and if in doubt, check with the embassy for that country. I'm pretty sure Androcur (for example) is illegal in some countries so while I'm not saying finasteride is illegal anywhere, it can't hurt to be sure.

phone the Topago embassy & ask them directly. ull be surprised how many people get busted for taking suscription medication with them abroad only to find out that what they are carrying is illegal in that country.
