Making Sure Minoxidil Gets Absorbed Into The Scalp, Not Soaked Up By The Hair...

So I'm sure a problem a lot of users of Minoxidil have is that's its hard to rub the solution into the scalp without getting the hair itself wet. The hair acts as a sponge and soaks up the solution where it is useless. I'm wondering what methods people have to get maximum scalp absorption with minimal hair wetness.

I've thought that maybe using a Q-tip to rub in the solution would work? Or what about those spray applicators with the long nozzle?

If youre using the liquid, then the applicator that comes with it is itself a nozzle. I apply it by rubbing that nozzle directly on the scalp. Works great, none is wasted.

Hi there, thanks for the reply.
I've been trying your method of just using the nozzle to rub in the solution and while it does seem to do a good job of getting the solution onto the scalp with minimal hair wetting, it doesn't seem to absorb into the scalp. I just applied some about an hour and a half ago and I just looked in the mirror and could see little liquid dots in the areas I applied. Do you think I need to rub these in with my finger or maybe a Q-tip dipped in the solution? I'm worried that with just to nozzle alone, the solution isn't being rubbed in enough??

Try getting your hair little damp by running a wet brush through it. Then your hair wont be able to soak up so much minoxidil and it will stay on the roots.

I use my finger and spread it on the part of the scalp I want it to cover

after i rub the nozzle and the solution is applied, i continue rubbing for a while. occasionally i do use my finger, for example if some starts to drip, but i try to not because the finger will absorb a lot more than the plastic tip of the nozzle. as will a q-tip so i dont use that either.

all of this said i dont have any areas that are completely bald. if i did i can imagine using my finger more. i find that with some hair there, the combo of that and enough rubbing with the tip of the nozzle does get it applied sufficiently.

before applying I use a boar bristle brush, then I apply minoxidil with long applicator and massage it in with this kind $2gadget (rubber). I don't know if it's that good or not but my situation hasn't worsened. I don't have to use my fingers anymore. Btw I buzz cut so it's easier for me..
