I see a lot of people here that think a mature hairline happens due to DHT, which is wrong. A mature hairline occurs due to a males changing head shape/facial structure and can sometimes symbolise that of a NW2. Although both occur via the process of miniaturisation, a real NW2 occurs due to DHT attacking follicles. Both can be stages of stability. I see a lot of people on hear leave comments like ‘past a mature hairline, you will be bald if you don’t start finasteride’-when in reality they are a stable NW2 with nothing to worry about. Too many people scaremonger and I know why - most people on this platform are probably bald hence when they noticed their stage of hairloss at NW2 and it progressed they now automatically think because they experienced it everyone will. If you have a receding hairline BUT have UNIFORM DENSITY on your scalp chances are you ain’t balding.
Example: Harry styles - his hairline has hardly changed in 10 years. He is not on finasteride. I know this because if at 16 his hairline was that recessed and he had male pattern baldness it would have been a very aggressive case and he would have had very sensitive follicles. No amount of finasteride would have been able to stabilise his hairloss for 5 years never-mind 10.
