Hi everyone

I began to lose my hair when i was 23 (i'm 25 - nearly 26).
I started with one of the products (not even here) Redken lotion but that didn't work and then i use some other unproven products not even on this website... but it seemed it didn't work as well

then i use procepia for 0.5 yrs but my family doctor said it's ok but in the long run it will cause impotentcy so i instantly stopped.

So I am taking the saw palmetto and using the rogaine 5% ( for 3 months) and i don't think it is doing anything at all too.

So I really do not know what to do (btw that my father is completely bald, so i guess i can't help it)

But i really don't want to be bald. I am having a receding hairline and similar to the procepia photo that the back spot is thinning become noticeable..

Any help (thank you) Give me some feedback please

like what other products i can add..

I dont think your looking to recover your hairloss long term, you seems to be expecting hair to regrow in just weeks when you start your regimen. And you keep stopping them in such a short time.

It will took 3 - 6 months to "AT LEAST" stabilize hairloss and almost a year for regrowth

I know like everyone else, when you discover your hairloss you'll be following every single day, you'll think you cant just hide for 6 months tills the drugs kick in.

Time runs fast if you just religiously follow your regimen, maybe after a year you'll look back and thank yourself for your dedication to fight hairloss

Saw palmetto has the same if not more side effects than Propecia.

I am dissapointed to hear that yet another doctor has misinformed someone on hair loss treatments by telling you that "Propecia causes long term impotence". The lack of education by physicans these days, and their ability to confidently pull things directly out of their rear ends when they know they're not sure they're right, is astounding.

Odelay? Bruce? You guys paying attention? At least one new example of doctor misinformation, misdirection, and complete absurdity every 3 days here.

If you had no side effect problems on Propecia in the 1st 5 months you were using it, then you are pretty much scott free and should never have any issues. Go back on the Propecia and don't look in the mirror for at least 12 months.

There are over 500K practicing MDs in the US. They have over 4000 patient encounters per year. Do the math, how many encounters might that be?

How many misstatements are they allowed to make? BTW-we have patients reporting what they say, not what they say. Patients are notorious for not accurately listening to what MDs say and there is data on that.

Again, you provide no context so your conclusions lack any ratoinal basis. Surprised at you HairLossTalk.com but your anti MD bias, borne out of your own negative experiences, seem to have blinded you to rational thinking on this one. I too have had MDs make statements not supported by data but, I don't overreact. Candidly, the long term impotence statement might not be that wrong (for some people!).

But, you are good guy so we are cutting you some slack!

:D

Respect my opinion and my right to express it. Don't call me irrational just because I don't agree with you.

Everyone views life differently based upon their personal experiences. Had you walked in my shoes for the last 20 years, instead of the shoes you've walked in, you would have a very different view on doctors.

Accept that and leave it alone.

It should be noted that you work in the medical community, so your opinions are biased, and therefore I am not interested in engaging you in discussions on this topic. Just like the other guy when I found out he was a doctor, I respectfully asked him not to address me on this topic, and he agreed he was biased in favor.

I am only interested in discussing the view of doctors with the non-medical public. Their feedback is all that matters to me. Their feedback is all over this board too, and its nothing but negative, completely matching my own experiences. I have no interest in hearing a doctor give me his opinion of doctors. As I have said, that's like asking my opnion of this web site. I would not even engage myself in the discussion as I am biased.

Please do not address me directly on this topic any further, allow me to express my opinion, and leave it alone.

In my opinion, the majority of doctors are grossly undereducated, underavailable to patients, and their concept of customer service absolutely sucks.

It seems to me that the overwhelmingly negative review of doctors on this page is akin to the overwhelmingly negative review of hair loss treatments here. Those who have complaints gripe. Those who don't are silent (or perhaps more accurately just not here). So the general bias of this board is decidedly anti-MD.

That having been said, there is no reason to expect doctors (especially general practitioners) to have any specific knowledge of hair loss and its remedies or to have any specific knowledge at all (hence the "general"). That is why independent research is a layperson's best defense against a mis-diagnosis or non-diagnosis. And that's why we're all here.

I've been taking propecia for a month and have had no side effects. At first I thought my interest in sex decreased slightly, but I have since been corrected.

Well, as they say, opinions are like..... Well you get the jist.

Actually, I have been a fairly harsh critic of the medical professon over many years. Having said that, they are among the brightest and most compassionate folks I know. Just not all of them.

If I may say so, the tone of your last post was very autocratic and a bit petulant. Not at all like I am used to you posting.

Sorry if we hit a sore subject with you and I am not trying to deny you your opinion. It is your site.

An alternate view is often useful, no?

e9394,

you could use spironolactone..it blocks almost 100% of DHT and its also a topical which means no side effects. Also stick with rogiane.Hairloss isnt fixed overnight. Its longterm so give it awhile. There are some people on this site that seen regrow from rogaine in 2 months.Niles comes to mind.Anyway just stick with it thats the key to fightin hairloss.
Also look up some of the products on this site to get a better understandin of them then make a decision on what to buy..thats what i did.
