On that note does anyone know of any known suicides because of hairloss? I read somewhere thats why Heath Ledger killed himself with drugs.

I think hairloss can really **** with some peoples mind. This might sound odd but yesterday I saw this show the other day about the mcdonalds massacre shooting in california that happened in 1984 hwere the guy killed 20 people. And surpries surprise hes bald

At the time, you could not appear bald in public if you were in your 20's. You just could not.

My father told me, if he stepped in a public place as a bald man in 1984, people would have automatically thought he was a skinhead.

I'm glad no one thinks that of me these days. Imagine going to a job interview with a shaved head in 1984.

Now it's just that many women think it's offensive if a guy is bald or is ugly in some way.

And too bad for us, they do the hiring in most companies.

Polish guys in my experience are just tough, masculine guys...many shave their heads as routine. The women are often stunning and feminine too.

Even in the very last years of the 80's (i.e.: before the internet) shaving your head was considered not only weird or crazy, but first of all ugly in Italy.

I remember working in a radio one Summer (1988?) and hearing people talking about a business partner who shaved his head because thinning: "oh he is a good guy despite some extreme habits... I am referring to his shaving his head of course".

I wonder what happened later that made it acceptable (luckily).

Why not, so called "mad shooters" so common in america are very often people who were bullied through their life or were ostracized by society. Hairloss at young age is perfect example of that.
