I e-mailed the famous Martin of HairLossTalk.com fame (http://www.hairlosstalk.com/photogallery/pgmartin.htm). And this is what he had to say about Proscar/Propecia and his current results:
----
D.,
Thanks for checking out my bio on hairlosstalk.com.
I did indeed switch from Propecia to Proscar in an attempt to save money.
Considering that Proscar is about half the price of Propecia, I have saved a
bunch of money at this point. Not to mention the fact that both drugs are
exactly the same and the fact that if I cut up the Proscar into fourths, I get
1.25mg of finasteride as opposed to 1mg with the Propecia. Pretty good deal if
you ask me.
I haven't really noticed any difference related to the switch. My hair still
looks great. It has not gotten worse, but I am unsure if it has gotten any
better as a result of the switch. In addition, I have not seen any negative
side effects from the increase in dosage. As a matter of fact, I recommend
using the Proscar to all that ask me about it.
Hope this information helps.
Have a great day!
