Hi Guys,
Thought I'd post on here as I've been getting kinda frustrated with my hair again lately I'm 24, live in Australia and have been receeding now realistically since I was about 17. My hairline has been at this point or similar now for about two years and it's form doesn't bother me at all, only its density. I think my crown is ok, considering I used a flash but perhaps you can let me know.

I started taking propecia in March of this year. Haven't really experienced any noticeable sides, my nipples have always been a bit puffy but I'm carefully watching my chest.... Have also been using Nizoral 1% every 3 days but no minoxidil yet as it just seems too much of a hassle.

My Dad has my same hairline but he's 53 :( My unles on my mother's side both suffer from male pattern baldness.

I've taken all the shots with the flash on in my bathroom so they look about as bad as i could make them. Have tried to give a good range of shots but taking them myself they're not the greatest. Excuse the sad face, these are not happy times!

The shot that scared me the most was when i spiked up my hair a bit when it was dry. not sure if that's how it's sposed to look when spiked with a flash or if im starting to lose it down the runway... if there's any others I should take let me know.

All shots were taken today with the exception of my graduation shot which was 3 weeks ago ;)

Am I about a Norwood 3 or worse? Do i need to start minoxidil now??

Hey mightymouse,

Norwood 2 with some diffusion on the top and crown is what you are in my estimation.

You are doing the right thing being on the Propecia and nizoral. I would give these two things till March 2007 to work, so a full year on them. Then add minoxidil if you aren't satisfied with the regrowth from those, because it is a hassle as you said.

So you have been on Propecia for 7 months- has your hair improved since then? did you go through a shed? would you say that you are maintaining at least or losing ground?

Hey Jayman,

It feels like my temples have closed in a bit, in that my hairline's a bit more rounded since I began Propecia though I don't really have any great before pics that show this off. Will flick through my photos when I get a chance to have a look.

As for a shed I've never noticed anything on Propecia though I'm fairly sure my density on top has been better, perhaps I'm going through one at the moment without knowing it.

I like your idea of starting minoxidil in March, I'm keen to do this as well as I'm pretty convinced Propecia has been maintaining what I've got pretty well. I have quite a few vellus hairs along the hairline still sprouting out, will see if I can take a close up perhaps.

PS: Does anyone know how I can fix that code up to show the images?

you have to pick the link to the message board instead. so upload them all over again. when you post a pic on imageshack it gives you like 8 choices of links so pick the one that says "thumbnail for forums(1)" and just paste that thing in here without the image tags. it will create thumbnails for people on here to click and see the enlarged versions.

so you're saying that your temples have come in toward your eyebrows and that your hairline has improved since being on propecia?
