I've been trying to find as many threads as I can about this phenomenon, but I'd like to hear whether anyone's had a similar experience. I've been using minoxidil 5% on the back of my head for over a year now, and it's given me good results so far. That made me want to give it a try on my hairline/widow's peak. Well that was about four months ago--fast forward to recently, while examining my hairline I discovered that I suddenly had a huge bald streak running up the center of my widow's peak which was NOT there four months ago. It looks like a flood of DHT or something just ran wild up the middle of my head and left carnage in its wake. Up until now, whatever hairloss I had on my hairline was gradual at best, so I can only conclude that it was the minoxidil that screwed me. Of course when I noticed this I immediately stopped putting the minoxidil on my hairline (although still on the back of my head).

I know there's others out there who've had similar experiences, will someone PLEASE tell me that the hairline damage done by minoxidil will become less obvious over time, if not completely grow back? I'll be thrilled if I can even get back to where it was four months ago. I can live with a widow's peak, but my hairline looks ridiculous now. I feel like such an idiot that I screwed myself like this.. I shouldn't have tried to fix where nothing was broken! :sobbing:

minoxidil did cause me a shed on the hair line as well and then grew back stronger within 6 months. The only bad issue I had on my hair line was when i switched from liquid to foam. Foam destroyed my hair line so i switched back and got most of my hair back after 4 months.

I was using the liquid the whole time. While I did get some peach fuzzy hairs growing in the spots where I had lost hair long ago, the damage it did to my thick dark hairs in my hairline outweighed any positive effects by far.

Minoxidil does not eat hairlines. minoxidil improves your top but doesn't do much for a receding hairline. As a result, your top will look better making your hairline look worse.

It's that simply.

Can you elaborate on how the Foam hurt your hairline? What is your history with minoxidil?

Well all I can say is I was using generic liquid 5% for 5 years at the time with excellent results, i switched to foam for 5 months and did nothing but shed at the mid scalp and hairline and I do mean ALOT. I switched back to liquid and after several long months alot of the hair returned.

I cannot explain why as I know alot of people who had similar experiences to mine. I also know alot who have had great success too with foam so it's a mystery to me. I do have a theory though and it is that foam penetrates instantly rather than slowly being absorbed that it could be too strong for some. Like I said, no proof it's just my theory as well as alot of thers who switched from liquid.

Who knows, if I would have started with foam in the beginning maybe it would have been different.

Well good luck to you. I use Kirkland and Members Mark (Sam's Club brand) generic minoxidil. They work great and are very inexpensive. For Members Mark I pay $17.00 for a 6 month supply, can't go wrong with that.

Good luck with the hair! :)

Well, I'm sorry to tell you that it did indeed hurt my hairline because after using it there for four months, I now have a bald spot the size of a quarter right in the center of my widow's peak that wasn't there before. Not to mention, I've found dozens of other posts online from guys saying the same thing that I'm saying here. So I really don't think that it was just a coincidence.

Hi.
You have to use a tiny nut of retinA everyday before bed, 15min before using minoxidil 5%. (and use fina 1mg ED).
My temples are regrowing.
