Minoxidil and the heart

Can years of topical minoxidil use damage the heart? I'm getting worried as someone I know who's fairly young is diagnosed with heart problem. He used minoxidil for 9 years. Is this possible? I'm not saying that minoxidil caused his heart problem but this is question to think about... :dunno:

The guy I know is diagnosed with mitral regurgitation and something else as well to do with his heart that I can't remember at the moment. Basically I have stopped minoxidil foam until there are studies to prove that topical minoxidil does NOT cause heart problems.

finfighter, that study is worrying. I'd rather keep healthy heart than hair. Have you found something alternative to use instead of the minoxidil?
