I'm wondering if anybody else has the same experience. I have a receding hairline and getting some baldness by my temples. So I've been using minoxidil for about a year now. I'm also using finasteride for about 3 months. But my hair gets very dry because of the minoxidil. I'm trying to grow my hair a bit longer, I have very short hair, just over an inch long, and I'd love to grow it longer. It grows very fast everywhere on my head except on the front of my head where I'm using the minoxidil. It keeps breaking off there. I have not cut the hairs on the front of my head, my bangs, since May. But I have to cut all those other hairs very often to match the hairs in the front. I'm very frustrated because I want to grow it longer. I don't understand why the hairs on the front of my head keep breaking off. I have searched a lot about it online, and I'm doing everything that's suggested, and it still doesn't help. Here's what I've been doing:
I air-dry my hair
I never use a blow dryer or any heat devices.
I never use any hair gel or other chemical products
I only wash my hair about once a week or less
I use a very good conditioner to moisturize my hair, without any harsh chemicals
I pad my hair dry with a shirt (instead of a towel)
The only thing I can think of that might be harsh on my hair is the minoxidil. But I can't imagine that this is causing my hair to break like this. Does anybody know what it could be, or have any advice?
