I read from a website the following:

"After 2 years, you will be able to observe that the effect of Minoxidil has died down or disappeared."

Is that true? :freaked:

I tracked that text back to a hair transplant site in the UK. I guess we should question the source of any information. I'm sure it's possible that it could stop working in 2 years for some people, just as it works for some people and not for others.

On the other hand, there are people who have used it for 10-15 years.

Taking some of the comments I've read on this board, rogaine kind of works like "Tivo" for hair loss. If it sets your clock back 5-10 years, you probably continue to lose hair but your clock is basically set back those 5-10 years, so it takes 5-10 more years than it would have to end up with as little hair as your would have otherwise had.

On the other hand, I've heard of people who have been successful with minoxidil in the long term. I guess it depends on the degree of thinning. Some people might just stabilize after a while.

DudeInNJ thanks for your input mate, simply you are saying it's like Finasteride, unpredictable!

I think it's unpredictable, but also that if the comments posted here are correct, minoxidil will increase your baseline haircount and thickness to what it might have been X years ago, but will not stop hairloss, so the clock ticks even though we've had a rewind of a certain number of years.

Yeah that's kinda what scares me. What if I get regrowth and no one will think I'm balding. Then all of a sudden the hair starts to fall out at increased speed. That would be a nightmare  .

I think you younger guys will be fine on regimens like the big3 for a long time. I think if you can keep decent hair until you are 50 that's pretty good. I always thought I wouldn't care about my hair when I was 40, but I actually do. :)

Well I can say for sure that if I could keep my hair until I'm 30 I would be one happy camper. It doesn't look like it at the moment... gonna be pretty near NW6 in a year if things progress at current speed.
