Minoxidil Foam For Eyebrows? Worried About Shedding!

Hello, everyone. I'm a 47-year-old male and I'm considering using Kirkland 5% minoxidil foam to regrow my eyebrows. My brows have always been pretty fine and thin but in the past decade or so, they've gotten a lot sparser. I've had my thyroid checked and everything is normal, so I'm not sure why this is happening. Maybe stress or just aging. As I said, they were never very significant to begin with but I definitely had more eyebrow hair when I was younger. Here's a photo of how they look now:

[OK, I can't post a link to the photo, which is kind of important. Any chance this restriction could be lifted?]

As you can see, there's hardly anything there. Most of it is very light, fine vellus hairs that don't even show up on camera and seem to have replaced where I once had terminal hairs (which were quite fine to begin with). I'm blond so my brows were fairly light in color, although a bit darker than the hair on my head.

Will minoxidil bring back my brows? I don't expect or even want them to be super-thick and dense or anything. I'd just like to at least have something there like I used to! One thing I'm concerned about is shedding. If I start applying minoxidil, will I initially shed what little brow hair I have completely? I'm worried I would look quite odd if I had absolutely nothing there.

Also, is it possible for minoxidil to "go systemic" from mere eyebrow area application? And if it went systemic, would I find myself growing more beard and head hair as well? I'm considering using it for my beard, too, which is also pretty sparse and weak. I also have a receding hairline but it's been a very slow progression over the past 30 years or so. I think I may have similar hair genetics to someone like George H.W. Bush who was basically a Norwood 3 for life. But I certainly wouldn't mind my hairline filling in some as well.

My main concern is my eyebrows, though. I'd really like to get them back to how they were 10+ years ago. Or at the very least, have some more hair there than I do now. Any thoughts from others who have used minoxidil for eyebrow growth?

may want to try Oral minoxidil but overall it's not going to regrow much

The best option is a Fue eyebrow transplant - I had one and very happy with results

I thought topical minoxidil worked for eyebrows. Any amount of regrowth would be helpful. I'm just concerned about the shedding part. To anyone who has used topical minoxidil on their eyebrows, did you experience shedding? If so, how bad was it?

I apply it everyday. To my head and to my eyebrows. 4 months now, lots of sprouting on my head and does seem to thicken the brows a bit, nothing drastic yet. Never shed at all on the head or brows.

Topical minoxidil should work well for your eyebrows. With consistent steady use, those vellus hairs should thicken and darken over time. It’s not medically approved for anywhere but the scalp, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t work elsewhere. Hell, many men have used it to grow facial hair with good success. If you do decide to try it out, you need to be consistent and patient. I recommend using the foam, as it dries much much quicker, and it’s less likely to wind up in your eyes. As for shedding, I couldn’t say. I imagine eyebrows have a different (probably shorter?) life cycle than scalp hair. I wouldn’t think you’d experience much shedding, but that’s just my personal opinion.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I decided to give the 5% foam a try after reading some positive reviews on Amazon about eyebrow growth. I'll be applying it once a day in the morning. I'm not expecting much and any amount of growth would be an improvement. I have extremely fine blond hair in general and my eyebrows have always been pretty weak. I'd just like to get them back to their regular weak state, lol. I'll let you know how it goes.

Well, I tried the minoxidil and it seemed like it was starting to help, but then on day 17 I noticed an increased amount of puffiness under my eyes which I've heard can be a side effect. I stopped using it and my eyes are back to normal. I'd like to try the minoxidil again but I'm afraid I'll have the same reaction. I do think I might have been putting a bit too much on. Maybe if I put on only a tiny bit less regularly? Like every other day? Any advice? Should I maybe wash it off after a while so it doesn't keep absorbing into my skin?
