minoxidil for temples

Alright guys, I'm in the process of putting together a regimen and I just have a few questions. Right now I am 27 years old with minor thinning on top and in temple areas and I caught it very early. I started finas and use nizoral every third day and I wanted to add something that may fill my temples in thicker. Myhairline is pretty good probably a 1.5, but it is thin about an inch behind this and I was hoping to fill this in. I know the finasteride and nizoral should halt further loss, but I'm hoping for a little thickening like I said in the temples. I actually bought some foam and have it in hand I'm just nervous about a possible shed that will make it worse for summer which is in 3 months if I started it now.

Do you guys have any reccomendations?? If I started my foam now would it thin my hairline significantly by summer or do you think I would have recovered with growth by then?? Does revita or any other topical or shampoo do anything to help fill in the temples at all??

Thanks in advance

my temple/hairline regrowth started at 4-6 weeks, so it's possible to have it growing by 3 months. i think at 3 months i will have made good progress but will still need to be patient.

my progress pictures are in my story below

Nice results man....I noticed you had a lot of regrowth 2 months in but 2 weeks in you said the whole front thinned out bad. Did this thinning recover on the 2 month mark as well as the temple regrowth. I just don't want my whole hairline to be completely thinned out in June thats why I'm hesitant.

Spectral DNC has been working good on my hairline/temple area after 4 months.

Keep in mind that not everyone sheds. For instance, I have not experienced the shedding some of the people here speak about. No shed whatsoever from using the Rogaine Foam. I started noticing regrowth after about 4 weeks. But I still have more progession to go. I'm on my 2nd month of Rogaine Foam. And I'm like a Norwood 1.5 just like yourself. So trying to go back to the full Norwood, normal hair line.

the thinning made me very nervous because now not only was i receeding, i was actually losing density on the top making it hard to style what i had left. luckily in the past week i have noticed it IS getting thicker again. so it took a good 6-7 weeks to start seeing my density comming back.

i dont understand why people debate starting minoxidil, it should be an easy answer.

scenario, you are losing hair.

options.

1. do nothing, lose hair

2. use treatments continually to keep hair for x number of years

do whats right for you, if i get sick of treating hair loss maybe ill give it up one day and accept going bald. right now i don't feel like being bald so i will treat it. how do you feel?

I hear ya, I'm just at that point where my hair is still in pretty good shape and is pretty much only noticeable when wet and spiked, where finasteride might be able to hold me where I'm at for some time with just popping a pill once a day, where if I add minoxidil for little regrowth I'm stuck with the pain in the *** 2 times a day application, so thats my dilemna

i still see no dilemma, you can decide to give up minoxidil at any time and you'll just slowly lose the hair you gained, the hair you wouldn't have had if you didn't use it.

think of it as renting hair.

I'm glad to hear that, I'm 6 weeks in and my whole frontal area is very thin now, I have signs of regrowth around my temples but I've lost about half of my density everywhere else that I apply it.

see that's the point, you don't think it's worth that. to you. for you. so don't do it. if it was worth it for jimmy joe jr then he might as well do it.

UK1, my density is comming back without question. i'm confident yours will too.

I have every reason to continue rogaine foam now b/c it's a great styling product on top of a hair loss remedy!

^^

can you explain why.. ive been using foam now for the last month and half.

Im also applying it all over my temples and frontal hair, since it has not been proven to regrow frontal hairs, am I just speeding up the hair loss from the shed to the front and no hairs is ever going to regrow back, im freeeeeaking out by that comment.

Does anyone know if the minoxidil shedding is just the shedding of hairs that are in the final resting phase, or if it actually sheds healthy (anagen) growing hairs?

Be careful when reading some comments here, as some people commenting here haven't even used minoxidil before. Those who experience shedding usually will only go through that experience temporarily (the hair is leaving and making room for new hair). No need to freak out. Just keep using the treatment and wait at least 4 months for results.

isnt foam supposed to be the last option?

Not at all. Rogaine Foam is the best treatment available right now for REGROWING LOST HAIR. It's better at regrowing hair than finasteride/Propecia and other DHT blockers. Where the foam is weak at is fighting/blocking DHT.
