I used rogain twice a day for only three days and now a month later i still have dark circles, unfirm skin and fine fines on my forehead. My forehead feels dry, stiff, numb, and sometimes burns. My forehead came into contact with the minoxidil via a knit cap and pillow. I am seeking advice in terms of recovery time. Is this numb sensation i am experiencing on my forehead from collagen being produced in the inflammed forehead area? I was a very young looking 32 year old without any issues before i used rogaine.

Minoxidil has a half life of 22 hours. After 4*22 hours ~ 4 days, less than 6% of the original dose (2^(-4) = 6%, 2^(-5) = 3% etc) will be left in your system or at the site of application, for that matter. Hence, minoxodil cannot have any active effect on you anymore latest 4 days after stopping using it, very likely though any active effect already vanishes after 2 days of discontinuing. I don't think it's biologically possible that minoxidil has caused your skin situation to worsen for one whole month, if you dropped minoxidil after day 3. At most, any additional adverse effects could've worsened until day 5; even day 6 is already unlikely.

Benjt, could i still be dealing with collagen loss? My forehead appears unfirm, wrinkled, and highly pronounced lines are still apparent, as are the dark circles under my eyes.

I did wash my minoxidil contacted knit cap and pillow cover With the rest of my clothing, would that be an issue? Am i still getting the minoxidil from my clothing?

Minoxidil is an inhibitor of lysyl hydroxylase, an enzyme involved in collagen production, and decreases collagen production in vitro. We investigated the in vitro effects of minoxidil on behavior such as proliferation and migration of rabbit subconjunctival fibroblasts (SCFs). The ultrastructural effect of the drug on SCFs was also examined.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7672621

Lysyl hydroxylase (or procollagen-lysine 5-dioxygenase) is an oxygenase enzyme that catalyzes the hydroxylation of lysine to hydroxylysine.[SUP][1][/SUP][SUP][2][/SUP] This reaction is necessary to the formation and stabilization of collagen. It takes place following protein synthesis (as a post-translational modification). The protein is a membrane-boundhomodimeric enzyme that is localized to the cisternae (lumen) of the rough endoplasmic reticulum.
It requires iron and vitamin C as cofactors.

If you use a vitamin c tonic and retin-a the side effects would greatly reduce.

I used Retinol + C, it did help me a bit, so thanks for that reesu :)

It takes around 3 to 12 months based on your age, lifestyle and nutrition.

Everybody's body reacts different. One person can experience wrinkles, other person doesn't. Same with medicines, Certain medicines can make somebody nauseous and another person might have a headaches, just depends from person to person.

I still did not recover from the dark circles, and frown lines and wrinkles on my forehead. Can some one please tell me when these will go away?

They have already told you. Time cures all.
Like 3-12 months. I also used minoxidil long time ago, experienced some skin sides and they ended up going out.

Try vitamins, sleep us much as you can, keep hydrated, use retinol cream... There are lots of things that may help a little, but just give it time and don´t get stressed.

A diuretic like spironolactone about 25mg twice per day for facial bloating.
A vitamin c mask or tonic for your collagen.
Use these both and live a happy life
