Greetings
Been an enthusiastic user of minoxidil 2% for over 10 years with stunning results. Went from almost bald when i was 28yrs old to full head of hair and never looked back. Decided to stop for a while last year to see what would happen and wholly s*it, i was back at the chemist within three months for another years supply. I had almost lost the lot!
One year on and i've re-grown the lot but my problem is i have recently had to stop again. Doctors orders! I'm now 39 and i've been experiencing bouts of lightheadedness, which although not severe has lead me to undertake a series of tests to rule out anything sinsister. Nuerologist assessment, CAT scan, ENT assessment full blood tests etc etc over the course of 12 months. Nothing can be found and i'm in perfect health. None-the-less a little concerning, they say its possibly stress related but can't say for sure and cannot rule out Monoxidil even though its been fine for years. Major catch 22! I know in 3 more months i'll have a head like a slapped arse... theres a happy thought!

Anyone encountered lightheadedness with minoxidil? or anyone suggest alternative.

Man, can't say I can recommend an alternative to minoxidil but I'm very interested in your story. You say you grew back quite alot of hair on minoxidil? How soon did you notice growth from when you started it, how bald were you when you started and did it work everywhere?

Sorry that I have no advice to offer.

I was very thin on top from the crown, front and sides of my head.
My scalp was very visible. From first use it took three full months to see growth which in my case was allover. Within six months you'd swear i'd never suffered any kind of male pattern baldness. Basically it gave me thick hair allover with no skin irritation ar anything. Initial shedding in the first three months was severe but stopped and as long as i used it at least once a day (usually twice) it did'nt shed and just kept growing. The period i did stop (4 months) i did go quite bald again but re-grew within 3 months of starting again. My wife is a total believer. This stuff works man!

Have you thought about finasteride?

Perhaps copper peptides would help. As for an actual product to replicate the effects of minoxidil I'm not sure.

Yep - if Minoxidil is what ails ya, then you'll have to leave it.

However, if you surf these boards, you will see that people tend to get better results from finasteride than they do with minoxidil.

Only problem is that the hairs you now have are likely Minoxidil dependent. You may have a roller-coaster ride ahead.

Good luck my friend!

Very encouraging story, but I would investigate or try out some things before stopping the minoxidil if you are prepared to take some risks to keep your hair (But if the doctor says to stop it, I would stop using it).
Or you could ask your doctor if you could use it maybe once a day to see if the lightheadedness goes away or you could take a holiday and see if it is due to stress etc.

Also Because your hair reacts so well on the minoxidil and it seems that is all you need, you may not be suffering from normal male pattern baldness, because the DHT-issue isn't being covered.
Like Bryan says many times: minoxidil only provides you with an offset of extra growth, but doesn't interfere with the fundamental balding process ,you will keep losing hair.

PLease try to post some pics, they don't have to be clear because with so much growth we can maybe tell from blurry pics.

Good luck
