I notice alot of you guys talking about using rogaine on your hairlines... my question is can that work? the box of rogaine that i have (and am yet to even open) says specifically that it will only work on vertex thinning and nowhere else. is this just the type that i have or what? i am very confused and i would like to be doing the most that i can to help my hair... thank you ^^

bigj,

the rogaine box says vertex only because that's what the FDA trial they conducted studied. Since their FDA approval is based on a trial measuring success in the vertex area only, they have to specify that in their product literature.

it's pretty well established that minoxidil does work on the front of the scalp and on the hairline. It just doesn't work quite as well there as it does on the vertex. In fact, that's probably why the FDA trial was concentrated on the vertex, so Rogaine would be able to advertise a much higher success rate than if their FDA trial included the frontal portion of the scalp.

big name companys use the vertex because it's easiest to maintain/grow the vertex.

you wouldnt be impressed by a drug that said 1 in 10 grew hair on the hairline would you?

not saying that these drugs can't "help" the hairline/temples..
