When your on minoxidil can it make your hair go through thinning? I mean I dont know if its in my head or not but where i put the minoxidil it seems those hairs are so freakin thin they are gunna fall out. I mean if i pull them gently they wont come out but they are just so incredibly thin im just wondering. Any1 else have this happen to them?

minoxidil will not cause individual hairs to thin, but it may cause a shed so you may temporarily have less hairs on your head, especially in the areas where you apply the minoxidil.

Luckly i havent shedded yet. I have been on minoxidil 3 weeks and 5 days with no probs so far. But I am worried that it will not work for me whatsoever but im still staying optimistic. :)

I'd be suprised if you didn't see good results within 4-6 months on minoxidil. Younger users respond much better then old geezers. Keep us updated.

Thanks lizzad. Reading post after post about how minoxidil does nothing to the front of peoples hairlines kinda gets to you. I have been balding for about a year exactly. Lets hope I get some type of growth.

(I really dont need that much regrowth to get good results. If i can regrow just a little on my left side I would have almost like full regrowth)

Not directly related to this topic, but I didn't want to start another thread.

Does anyone know the difference between Rogaine and other minoxidil treatments? I'm looking to save some money and Rogaine 2% is 55 dollars a bottle where I live.

Would I be just as well off buying the cheaper brands? I am currently paying a premium for the Rogaine brand name solely?

I'm just wondering whether there's a difference between Rogaine and other minoxes aside from price.

Thanks in advance.

Minoxidill is the generic brand of rogaine it makes no difference which one you use. The only difference that minoxidil is 40 bucks cheaper each month. And 2% of minoxidil and 5% minoxidil are little different. The 5% is stronger and proven to regrow more hair than the 2%. But people who get scalp irritation with the 5% move to the 2%. Thats the differences that I know of.

I dont konw that this is entirely true. I have read of cases where an allergic reaction to the drug minoxidil can acutally cause hair follicles miniaturize because of irritation. Now this is very rare I assume, but allergic reactions to any drug are always a possibility.

Yea but thats rare. On dr lees site he said with the use of minoxidil 83% of men will reverse MPD and regrow some hair. He said with the rest it will atleast most likely slow down your MPD.

When you go see him ask him if that happened in your case. It probley didnt it looks like you have thick hair.

And bomb, your hairloss doesnt look like male pattern baldness its scattered. I noticed my dad has scattered hairloss like that what he got from deppression. His was on the sides of his head though not the top.

And I read about your story about you going to the derm and he looked at your hair for 2 seconds, said u had male pattern baldness, and went on with his day without asking questions. Same thing happened to me man. Dont feel alone. I really think doctors should have some type of compassion. I mean I honestly think a doctor telling you that you have male pattern baldness is like saying you have cancer.
