Hello,
I have been thinking about it for long but have not dont anything yet about my hair loss. I have a receding hairline although hair on the top of my head looks good. But the receding hairline is taking its toll and people have started asking me questions.

I have been doing a lot of research on the internet and contradictory to what I had heard minoxidil does seem to work in the hairline too ( atleast by stopping it from further receding ).

Also seems like Dr. Lees is the fastest drying minoxidil ( better than Rogaine). Am I correct ?

If so can someone Please tell me where can I buy it. I have been looking over the internet but cant find any site that sells them.

Thanks in advance for the replies.

If you are in the USA go to Walmart and by equat Minoxidil..
only $18.88 for a 3 months supply...If that does not work then go pay alot more for Mr Lees.
You might also want to try Nizoral shampoo..and Propecia/Finisteride.

Thanks for the reply dorianyates

I am wondering if the Walmart version dries as quickly as Dr. lees. Also I am hoping since its so cheap it does not have any adverse affects. I am no Bill Gates but I can stay hungry for a day to save my hair :). Please dont get me wrong.

I was planning to for thr Nizoral, but I was kindaa skeptical bout Procepia.

I was wondering if just using minoxidil for a while can atleast stop the receding. For regrowth I will try Procepia later. I have just started dating a girl whom I really like and I dont want the side effects coming into play right now :)

Thanks

I never had any sides when I was applying minoxidil to the crown of my head. Well I should say one side and that was the old minoxidil itch. You should'nt have any worry's about using minoxidil.

Hair,
Equate's solutions don't dry nearly as quickly as Dr. Lee's. It's the simple fact that Dr. Lee uses different amounts of alcohol and PPG/Glycerine than Rogaine, etc.

Thanks Aplunk. These answers from all of you are really helpful.
I think i will go for the Lees. I need something that dries very fast so that I can rush to work quickly.

OTOH, Is it bad to leave it on for like say 12 hrs. My plan is to apply it in the mroning...arnd 8..goto work, then goto gym and then take a shower arnd 8 and then apply the second time. Is something wrong with this routine.

I read many postings and everyone suggests that just takin Minoxildil is not a good idea. YOU HAVE TO GO FOR Propecia. Moreover most of my hair loss is on the front...Back looks absolutely fine ( till now ), although I can see it coming. But I am 27 and plan to not use Propecia till 32. Do you guys think I can survive with Minoxidil till then. Dont want extra hair groth but atleast stop the receding..

Thanks for all the great views..

In my opinion, you have very reasonable expectations. I'm sure minoxidil 5% will benefit you until you decide to go on Propecia. Honestly, I think that Rogaine will not benefit you as much in later treatment, so that's when Propecia should come in.

Stopping recession can prove to be difficult. I strongly recommend having an anti-androgen, like Topical spironolactone. However, it seems like you're quite a busy guy, and you prefer to not be hassled by applications and their cosmetic effects. spironolactone 5% is a cream, and is simple: Apply after minoxidil, wait 5 minutes, apply the spironolactone cream. It dries quickly and doesn't leave any residue. It also acts as an occlusive, allowing for better absorbtion of minoxidil, with the added benefit of potent anti-androgenic properties.

Whichever way you choose, just stick to it for a minimum 6-12 months, get it from a reliable and reputable source, and make it cost effective. Don't make fighting hair loss an expensive asset in your life.

Oh yeah, leaving minoxidil on your scalp for 12 hours is totally alright. Just don't apply too much. It sounds like you're giving your scalp plenty of breathing time between applications, and it will give you best results.

I personally use the Rogaine all over my scalp-- the Norwood 1-4/5 areas. I'm testing Dr. Lee's PPG-free formula this week. Supposedly, it's dries very quickly and leaves the scalp irritation-free.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Jesus Christ...you have it BACKWARDS, my friend! Minoxidil doesn't stop balding, it just provides an extra offset of growth as balding continues. Propecia, on the other hand, actually helps interfere with the fundamental balding process. You need to have a better understanding of what these treatments actually do, and what to expect from them.

Thanks Guys

Aplunk1 -- Thanks for your inputs. Can you tell us more on Topical spironolactone when you get a chance. What is it and does it not have side effects ?

Bryan -- Thanks for your inputs too. Are you trying to say only taking Minoxidil with not help at all. I thought minoxidil will atleast hold whatever hair is in there even though it will not help in regrowth. Thats what I get from all the postings. Maybe I am worng ???

Thanks again guys

No you should start with propecia. then add minoxidil as bryan stated.
Minoxidil will cause some growth, but has nothing to do with sopping hair loss, thats propecias job. As for spironolactone, to put it in simple terms it binds to follicle to protect it from DHT.
