Hi all
I cant believe its been 3 months already, Anyway here´s my story.
I first saw signs of thinning in January 2003. Of course I was in denial for some time before that, like anyone else. But in January I couldn´t lie to myself anymore. In May 2003 I shaved my head with a buzzer and my hair was so thin all over the hairline (not receding just thinning all over) and also my crown was thinning. Hell, I think the whole top of my head was thinning! Diffuse thinner anyone???
I had never heard of Propecia by that time so I thought I was screwed. DEPRESSING!!!
But in June a friend told me about this propecia pill...So I got on the internet and read all about it and saw my doctor in July, She told me I would be a good candidate for propecia since I was relative young (27), Had a moderate hairloss and no receding hairline. She gave me a 3 month prescription for propecia. This is what I´ve seen so far.
month 1: no shedding, side effects? YES!...No libido at all, Trouble getting an erection, less ejaculate, just oozing. Body hairs definitely thinner on my chest and stomach.
month 2: Still no shedding. And my hair which I grew out some since May still looked like sh*t (IMO). Side effects still there. After 2½ months I shaved my head again and the second after I shaved my head I carefully carefully took a look in the mirror (I was really scared) and damn...it looks so different compared to the last time I shaved my head (in May). I was really surprised, It looks so much better. I immediately took some pictures and compared them to the baseline pictures I have, and to me its a big difference. Even my sister agreed with me. And my sister is one of those people who doesn´t notice hairloss in people, (She thinks Kevin Costner got perfect hair).
At the end of month 2 My sideeffects went away or got better anyway. Libido back to normal. ejaculate normal and erections improving.
So far my hairline is so much better, hair overall thicker and the "bald" spot at the crown possible smaller.
In the beginning when I started propecia I was really optimistic, knowing that 90% stops their hairloss and 66% had regrowth (48% significant regrowth). But then I found these stupid hairloss forums and read all the negative posts, And they really got me down to the point I was thinking of quitting propecia. But some peoples posts (Axon, Cassin and others)really helped me to continue with Propecia.
Then I realized. of course you will se a majority of negative posts. For example, Lets say I was about to buy a computer but wanna do some research first. I go on the internet and find a computer forum. I will probably only see posts like "My hardrive is dead after only 1 month" and "I cant install winXP on my stupid Dell" or " I cant get this stupid DIVX codec to work" but no posts like "my computer is working GREAT!". But still we all know that most computers DO work. Its the same thing at a hairloss forum.
Now entering my month 4, and so far I am really happy.
Good luck everybody and dont give up! Remember with propecia alone 90% maintain their hair, 66% have regrowth and if you add other treatmens you will have an even better chance! Also remember that most people having success with a treatmen dont visit hairloss forums anymore!
