Hey everyone.

Just found the forum and joined. I'm 24, brazilian and it'd be great if you could rate my Norwood based on these pictures taken today. So, basically I've had the receding hairline since my late teens. In my mother's family, my grandfather, my uncle and a cousin are bald. My father also has the same receding hairline as myself, though his hair is thinner and he's not bald, despite being 48. What possible treatments do you recommend ?

NW2.5-3

Finasteride + minoxidil for 6 months - 1 year then reevaluate your situation

NW3. Start with finasteride if you want to maintain at least but you will need a transplant in the future if you care a lot about your hair.

You have the same head shape as myself. Your front comes down lower so consider that fortunate as my full hairline even after a transplant is about where your sides are. It had been this high since your age as well.
You'll prob end up like me pre hair transplant with that horrid island of hair up front until the crown erupts and connects it all.
At 24 I'd start saving for a future procedure around your early to mid 30s

Yeah, the beard is because I wear round-shaped glasses and while clean shaven I look way too nerdy so people don't take me serious.
I don't think the loss stopped, my hair still falls...

I don't like my head shape at all. I have a teacher that has the hair Island look, it's awful imo. And also, I don't know if my crown will start to thin, this region has a very good density plus my hair is thick.

What about the side effects related to long term use of Finasteride? Is it sth to worry about?

Don't worry about Finasteride till age 28/29...

Why? Then it's too late for a lot of people here. You take Finasteride to maintain for as long as possible (i.e. slow down the hair loss).

Do you wanna maintain norwood 2 or norwood 5 diffuse?

For some reason with your narrow face shape, the good density, the beard, and how low the peak is it almost comes across like its a deliberate hairstyle.

There is misunderstanding.

When I consulted one prestigious dr who has the experience of practising in both India and London,
She told me to use Finasteride upto 28/29 only.

and then stop it as that age corrensponds to reproductive time period. It is the age of marriage for many boys.

Don't you think it's too risky? I could be nearly bald by 29 considering I had a lot more hair 5 years ago.

You can easily start Finasteride at age 24.
Risky period for Finasteride is when you reach age 28/29.
So you have good 5 years to avoid hair loss.
