I'm sure this has happened before...While installing a new light fixture in the bathroom I caught a frightening sight....What the Hell?!
Thats right...diffused balding, primarly at the crown :(
I have a fraternal twin brother who is showing definite signs of balding three years earlier, and thought I escaped his fate (I'm 38yr) ...well, I did catch it early at least.

I went to the doctor's today for my regular check-up and asked my doctor for a Propecia prescription. He found the request vein ....he was quite bald himself.

Well, I got my 1st prescription filled today ...OUCH! :-x $70
I'm glad I found this place! ....I plan on placing my order for Proscar on-line, and later for some generic alternative.

A few questions please:
I've read that it doesn't matter what time of day you take it...is that true?
I've also read that diffuse balding is more difficult to treat...true?
Finally...does catching things early affect success rate?

Yeah, definitely go with the proscar or generic split into 4th's.

I have read posts from diffuse thinners complaining about their responsiveness to treatments but the more "scientific" information out there states that areas of the scalp that still have some hair on or around it, have the best chance of recovering.

Catching things early definitely improves your chances of success. If you are 38 and are merely "diffuse" (i.e. no slick areas), then your male pattern baldness isn't nearly as agressive as some on here have it, and your chances of making significant improvement are VERY GOOD. Our success stories' posts indicate that those who bald at a later age make the best recoveries from treatments.

As for the timing of your finasteride dosage, the general consensus here is that it doesn't matter, so long as it's around the same time every day. I take mine in the morning after breakfast b/c it's the easiest time to remember.

yeah, thats what most of us in the know do

dont worry about your dr, a lot of them are like that, some people just dont see male pattern baldness as a problem that can escalate into so many others

oh... well i have specific thinning, and also diffuse thinning. so it doesn't count as diffuse does it? (hair everywhere seems thinner than when i was younger, but especially on crown, crown there seems to be less hair)

again, i hate to repeat, in mpd, there is a general diffuse thinning all over at first, then other parts start miniaturizing faster, which is why you get the bald spots

you sound like classic male pattern baldness, with starting typical male pattern baldness patterns
