I was on Propecia from age 19 to age 30 and a half (I am 32 now). Everything was all good in the hood with Propecia. I had the coolest thickest hair that I would do cool anime styles with. Then everything started to go to sh*t right around my 30th birthday. The Propecia stopped being effective and my hair was gradually getting thinner and thinner.
I decided to stop Propecia and get on Dutas purchased from Inhouse starting in July of last year. I was 31 and a half at this time. My hair kept getting thinner and thinner to the point where by December, right after my 32nd birthday, my hair was cob web thin. I am a teacher and one of my ruder students even called me baldy. I overheard other students commenting on how thin my hair had gotten. I even overheard some girls at a cafe deciding whether I was cool or not and one commented that I was balding. I rarely left my house except to go to work. My confidence was zero. I wouldn't even look at girls because I knew they wouldn't look back.
That was rock bottom. I shudder even thinking about it. I decided to get more aggressive with my regimen. I started applying Nizoral 2 % twice a week and I started using Kirkland Minoxidil twice a day. The liquid minoxidil made my hair look like hell so I stopped using it in the morning and only applied it at night. About the end of January this year I started applying foam in the morning and liquid at night.
Not much was changing but my hair basically stopped thinning at this point. That was good news but not good enough because my hair was already absurdly thin. Up until about February I was only applying a capfull or so of the foam and a ml of the liquid at night. I wondered if applying more Minoxidil would give me better results. I was losing patience. I decided to start applying four to five times the recommended amount of foam and liquid morning and night and often I would apply the foam twice a day. I would go through a year supply of foam in a couple of months. I also started applying Nizoral every other day instead of twice a week. My hair was still thin. Not much was changing. I started to get paranoid about the Dutas I was taking. Was it real, fake, or was the active ingredient weak? I just had no idea. So what I decided to do was continue to order the Dutas from Inhouse, take it every night and also get generic finasteride from Walmart. A year's supply of Dutas from Inhouse is about 360 dollars and the finasteride from Walmart is like 30 bucks or so for a year. I take both every night. Anyway, in the last month my hair has gotten really really thick almost to the point that you can't tell that my hair had started thinning at all.
I have experimented with so many things over this last year that I cannot account for what has suddenly thickened my hair. Was it the minoxidil kicking in after 6 months? Was it the Dutas taking a year to finally start working? Was it that the Dutas was indeed fake and getting back on finasteride (in combination with minoxidil) caused my hair to thicken? Was it the increased use of Nizoral? It's difficult to pinpoint what is causing my hair to get so thick. It may be everything in combination.
Anyway, this is my regimen.
1mg finasteride and .5 mg Dutas every night.
Four to five capfulls of foam every morning. Sometimes I will do this in the afternoon as well, although it tends to dry out my hair a bit.
Four ml or so of liquid every night.
Nizoral 2 % every other night.
Nioxin intensive therapy complex pills. One a night.
