My hair looks so thin, is it starting? If yes, what can I do against it?

Your hairline is thinning pretty aggressively for an 18 year old. I don't know if getting on finasteride or dutasteride before your 20s is a good idea though. You could try minoxidil and nizoral for now until you're old enough for a drug to combat DHT. See a doctor.

Yeah but the doctors are useless. They will spend 15 minutes on family history which is irrelevant once balding starts and if he waits, then it's too late to get any of that hair back. I would take finasteride from Keeps.com and never look back. They nominally have a doctor and I think they do phone interviews. Diagnosing baldness is easy once it appears and family history is only relevant until we see balding start. It's similar to seeing a hole card where two years ago, this OP wasn't bald and could somewhat rely on family history but now he's lifted the card and it says "balding". But even juveniles have to make decisions. You can get married at 16 in my state and puberty blockers are very similar to finasteride for males in my opinion. Who cares if you lose an inch in height if you are bald by 20? I would order the bill pill today and I am not disagreeing with your advice, JPW. It's the standard advice and it would work if doctors stay current with treatment but very few of them ever do. They know little about oral minoxidil and topical min is on the counter, not even behind it and that causes very few hormonal effects except hair growth.

What you recommend is perfect; it's just with the misery on here, I would start finasteride and he can always stop.
