Hi All-

I am sharing my story, because I want to help others suffering from hair loss. I have been lurking on this forum for the past six years or so.

I started losing my hair at age 23, back in 2006. I rapidly started losing alot. I immediately got on propecia. Within 7 months I had recovered some hair and saved what I had. The Propecia worked. I did not have any side effects.

The Propecia worked well until 2011. At that point the hairs started to lose thinkness and color and became limp again. I started Rogaine foam in December 2011. By June 2012, the Rogaine had reseted my hair scalp with alot more hairs, a bunch of thin hairs. The Rogaine definitely did something. I had more hair although thinner. But it only lasted a few months. The hair growth stopped and I lost a little more.

By September 2014, my hair was falling out again. This time, I doubled the Propecia to 2.5mg a day and started using Rogaine foam very liberally. One bottle a week.

I still have hair, but its been a battle. My advise is to use Propeica, Rogaine and Nizoral. It works. My older and younger brother who didn't use medicines are just about bold. Pictures attached. I am thinking about using laser therapy. And maybe PRP. I know many of you have doubts about LLLT, but there have been many recent studies to support its use. If any one has any other suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. Got to hang onto this hair, until there is a cure!

Hey man thanks for posting. Why haven't you tried dutasteride yet instead of shelling out the cash for a laser helmet? Also what is the order of your pictures?

Again, thanks for posting

You're still well above baseline, but yeah I would recommend switching to dutasteride if you're losing ground. Or RU, upping your finasteride dose isn't going to make any difference.

Your hair still looks a lot better than it did in 06. I would not increase my finasteride dosage. Instead it would be wise to try some topical anit androgen like spironolactone, RU or Fluridil. Also unless you are really comfortable taking dutasteride and about the potential side effects, I wouldn't consider it either. Anyway I don't think it can help with regrowth in slick areas now.

My hair pics go in order from 2006-2015. Left to right.

I don't see anything wrong with doubling the finasteride from 1.25mg to 2.5mg. I have no side effects of doing this for about 10 months now. Also, Dr. Bernstein recommends this, if patients lose ground. I won't try dutasteride because of the unknown long term side effects. dutasteride blocks an enzyme found in the brain.

Anyone have thoughts why the Minoxidil worked so well during the first six months?? (See pic with Ipad)

There are several studies proving LLLT works. Maybe not a lot, but it does help. I just need it to maintain what I have.
