gang,

Had my transplant last week and im gonna have pics for all soon. Does anyone know how long it takes before these scabs fall off? I thought everything went great and then yesterday my nose and around my eyes got all swollen and distorted like one of those crime scene sketch photos.

Also as the transplant grows, do people suggest you cut your hair to keep it even , or let the front just grow in?

I haven't had a transplant, but I heard that the scabs should be gone within a week or two. I'm not sure why your face got bloated, but it might just be a reaction to the sedative (if you were given one).

I think that you should let the new hair grow out until its time you get your hair cut. Slowly, your transplant should match up to your hairstyle.

Your doctor should have warned you about this.. Sometimes the swelling will slowly drop from the top of your head and settle in and around your eyes and upper cheeks.. this is totally normal and goes away in about 1 week. The scabs start to fall off in about a week, but some can last on the scalp for up to a month.

thanks thomas. I love my Dr. but the one thing he didnt do is tell me what to expect after the surgery. the back of my head feels like someone hit me with a bat and my face looks like i weigh 50 pounds more than i do. On the positive note, the bumps are starting to fall off finally.

at what point should i feel secure that these grafts are mine to keep and i wont lose them in the shower etc?

Also can anyone recommend a place that i can sell 5 1/2 bottles of propecia i bought that I am not going to use?

Your head really shoulnd't feel that bad. There is some pain involved but it usually isn't that severe. It's a common belief that the transplanted areas are yours to keep after 2 weeks. So theoretically after 2 weeks you could pull all of the hair transplants out and they would still grow back.

its just one tiny little spot that hurts bad, the rest isnt that bad. Its the donor site that hurts. The front doesnt hurt at all, i cant feel anything really.

And for the propecia- it gave me everlasting horniness but made it difficult to "finish" and when i did it was like a water pistol. The wife says no way :)

wow, you are swollen! my hair line will be exactly how yours will be when it grows in.
i have been thinking about filling in the alleys that appear on your pics but i am not quite sure if i should. the decision to or not to is kinda like barry bonds and steroids.

he is a great player but in the back of everyones head is did he take seroids! thats how i feel a transplant will be, your hair will look good but in the back of everyones head will be, transplant!

its starting to grow nicely and all the scabs are flaking off. I had the traditional surgery where they poke little holes in your head and then the place each follicle where it should go. The only part they shaved was a tiny line in the back of my head where they took the graft from :)

Most people lose about 80% of the transplanted hair before it grows back in about 3 months. When I had my first procedure I only lost about 40%, the second prodecure about 60%, and the 3rd prodcure I have lost about 90% with some already growing back just 2 weeks after it fell out.
