My HUGE Success (no pics, sorry, but hopefully inspiration)!

Although I find it difficult to believe, it has been almost two years since my hair began shedding. I say 'shedding' because in retrospect, there were signs of hair-loss as early as my late teens. (I'm currently 21). The shedding I speak of, which was massive, was triggered by a series of stressful incidents in my early college life. I remember waking everyday with my pillow covered in at least 20 hairs. Showering was a nightmare: every time I ran my hand through my hair I would dislodge 50+ hairs. I imagine I lost about 400 hairs each shower! Over the course of a couple months, my hair thinned dramatically. Hoping that this was simply telogen effluvium, I buzzed my head and attempted to ignore the problem. However, I was horrified to see a subtle but definite recession at the temples. As someone who had always had thick, curly hair, I cannot emphasize how much this destroyed my self-esteem. I feel like society as a whole deemphasizes this traumatic event in most men's lives.

Despite my depression, I wasn't quite ready to throw in the towel. I went to my doctor to ask for a prescription for finasteride. I was greeted with a fairly unsympathetic reception. She deemed finasteride an unnecessary medication and refused to proscribe it for me. Although I was frustrated, I eventually ordered finpecia online. For those of you who do not know, alldaychemist.com is a miracle! It has super low prices and is completely legit. I've ordered a variety of medications (primarily finp and tretinoin) and have always received the specified product. Unfortunately, they no longer ship to Canada, so I now use reliablerxpharmacy.com, which is run by the same company. They charge slightly higher prices, but still unbelievably affordable. (10 pills of fincar is $4.88 and 10 finp is$1.85). They take forever to ship, sometimes over a month, but if you plan ahead it is fine.

After taking finp for a couple months, my hair was still shedding like crazy. At this time, I had been shedding for almost a year, which was incredibly depressing. It felt never-ending. I ordered Kirkland minoxidil from ebay and began incorporating this into my regimen. After a couple months of minoxidil, my shedding decreased but was still higher than average. After four months of minoxidil, I couldn't believe the results. My hair was thick enough that no scalp was visible, and I couldn't have been happier.

Now, I get complements on my thick curly hair all the time. I have no pictures, so don't bother asking for them. I hope this will inspire people. In addition to finasteride and minoxidil, I cannot proclaim enough L'oreal Vive Pro for Men. This takes my limp hair and gives it body and extra thickness. My hair still sheds more than it did when I was younger, however, it doesn't appear to lead to a noticeable thinning so I'm not as concerned as I was. I should note that despite the slight recession, I always had general thinning. In retrospect, I might have had telogen effluvium which simply revealed underlying male pattern baldness. In any case, if anybody wants more information, ask away.

Congratulations on your success! :woot:

So, did you apply the minoxidil all over the male pattern baldness area or what? Oh yes, and what was the dosage(minoxidil)?

I use 5% generic minoxidil and apply it conservatively on my entire scalp, which consumes approximately 1.5 ml. As far as I'm concerned, there's no benefit from applying more than what simply moistens the scalp.

The only reason I mention the source for my medications is that when I was eager to begin treatment, I found many (if not most) men were purchasing finasteride online. However, most did not divulge their website of choice. Furthermore, the online pharmacies that were occasionally mentioned did not ship to Canada, or were absurdly expensive.

If you recommend another site, please mention it as it is helpful for those starting out.

It sounds like it, but he's advertising too many products. I hope it's real. I've just ordered some finasteride and minoxodil and will hopefully be starting the combination in 2 weeks.

Advertisement for what?

ADC is the one is probably mentioned the most, but I highly doubt he is a shill for those guys. They run a pretty successful online pharmacy chain in India that I think sees a fair bit of business, I doubt they'd need to come on here and promo their $2 finasteride.

I've started using ADC since United Pharmacies stopped shipping to Australia just fwiw. It's cheap, they are pretty helpful and the stuff is legit, shipping costs an arm and a leg, but if you get a bunch of crap at once it works out quite well.
So at least if he was advertising for the company, at least I can back up the company he is speaking for.

Just on topic though, these aren't really true success stories per say, well not yet anyway. I mean, virtually everyone should see initial success with finasteride+minoxidil, minoxidil grows hair, it's virtually undeniable. It's when the same level is maintained of a few years that I think it becomes a success.

I've just started minoxidil now after being on finasteride for a bit, and it's growing back my old hairline, so I guess it is a success. But I know after seeing some stories on here that were claimed to be successes (assignment zero is a great example), which in a matter of months, just reverted back to where they began.
So yeah... I dunno what my point really is, just that is pretty much anyone who uses minoxidil could claim to be a success story, it's the longevity of it though that counts I think, which with an OP who is 21 I doubt he has really had extended success just yet.
