It may be hard to believe but I'm on my 4th month of Dutasteride and my libido has increased. I felt it nearly straight away and honestly thought that it was placebo. Well, now four months have passed and my libido is much higher than it was pre-treatment. All I can do is theorise but your body on Dutasteride boosts your T by 23~% to make up for the reduced DHT. So I guess I can attribute it to this?? Anyone else experienced an increased libido from duta.

There have been some stories like this and lots of theories posited as to why. Maybe you were naturally imbalanced in your endocrine system and finasteride/dutasteride helped to alleviate that imbalance. Maybe your body is producing more T to counteract what's going on with the DHT suppression. Maybe it's just a short term high and you come crashing back down. Every experience is different.

Sounds like it could be reflex hyperandrogenicity. Noticed any increase in acne, oily skin or itchy scalp?

No, I’ve never had any acne just from genetics, and the dutasteride completely removed my
Itchy scalp. Worth mentioning I was on finasteride for 2 months prior to duta which made my scalp more itchy.

Is this an actual medical condition or something that hair loss community kind of made up to explain people who lose hair after getting on finasteride/dutasteride?

Hyperandrogenism in medicine only refers to women who have excessive androgen production.

I just looked into that and if that’s a real thing then you got me worried, I don’t have any of the symptoms you asked for, but worrying regardless. Also worth mentioning that right at month 4 I experienced about 3 inflammation induced scabs on my hairline which have thankfully subsided not sure if it’s related.

Don't worry, it's not real. My libido also increased on dutasteride (and finasteride). My skin is less oily and my hair is regrowing. Nothing but good from these drugs so far (except the cost)

Dutasteride made me real Randy too! And I got rather oily on it. I got a blood test - not only did I have a higher t level - but also DHT! I had undetectable DHT on Proscar and now I have low but comparatively high DHT on Dutasteride. I’ve heard this happens. I’m not sure I’ll continue.

I can’t imagine it’s helping my hair if it’s increasing androgen activity in my skin and such. I think perhaps some of us respond to the blocking effect of Dutasteride by compensating with either increased receptor affinity for androgens or just a greater production of androgens. My hair doesn’t look like it enjoyed Dutasteride at all. I only took it 1-3 times a week too. And when I increased it the more sides I got. So f*** this drug
