My progress with dutasteride

I did take dutasteride 8.5 month, started xmas 2005. Am using hairmaix lasercomb since september 2005. My only problem is a thinned out front. I have no pics.

Did take 0.5mg every day, in may i tried taking it only on mo, we, fr, su but did return to 0.5mg every day due developing more acne in the face.
I thought this mean that i have more dht and decided to take 0.5mg every day again until xmas 2006. Then i will make a conclusion and lower the dose perhaps, again.

It is hard to say how things develop. Some days it looks so full, some days it looks so poor. In the last 2 weeks i seemed to shedd strongest since i started using dutasteride. On the whole head. I see this after showering and drying my head, then i shake out the towel into the tub. There are about 10 hairs, i know this could be normal but some month ago it was less.

From the side my hair looks full, also the front! There seem to grow really new hairs also in the front. But all goes slowly!!!
I have good hopes. I think my front will get even better.
There are already some hair "strands" in the front. They weren't there some month ago. I think some month ago it was thin uniformly. Those strands give me really good hopes - and i will continue using dutasteride. Although i seem to shedd. But i think the shedd MUST be if you want regrowth.

Sexual side effects: sometimes my penis is a bit "slack" - but i can have 2-4 orgasm a day. This is no problem for me.

My skin changed from the beginng of the therapy. But to the positive. Was on finasteride and skin was dry. Had even eczemas due to finasteride.
They disappeard with dutasteride. My skin is nice allover the body. But it is so smooth that it looks female a bit. My face is spongy a bit.
I had weight rising the first 3 month, then i did abate! This is curious. I have now less weight (about 83-85 kg) comparing to the finasteride times (about 88-90 kg). I think this is a good sign considering my personal compatibility to the drug dutasteride comparing to finasteride.

Any questions?

Did you have any sigificant sheds (visibily less hair) in the hairline. I am at 2.5 months on dutasteride and within the last week my hairline looks like it has taken a hit. Previously, it looked like it was making good progress. Hopefully, it is new growth coming in. Have you experienced anything related?

I think this is going on now. Either i have a shedding now or hair starts to fall out more than the last years. I hope it is a shedding!
Also in the summer (that is now) i had the years before always thinner hair!!! This is another hope from me.

Would you say you now have more hair than at day zero?
Yes. More, but things are still developing...
"but hings are sttill developing" ...not sounding good.. :(
Why? If i have shedding now and new hair comes - this would be a great development.
I think: no shedding - no new (good) hair.

Even if the study I saw was legit, it would not mean that dutasteride makes your front hair fall out. it just would mean it does not work as well as a lower dose. Even in the study I "thought" I saw, dutasteride still maintained frontal hair at all doses, even the highest, in the front. It just did not grow as much at the high dose as at the low dose in the front, but it grew more in back at higher doses than at lower doses.

Take lower doses if you want, but then you are not getting the full effect for the back of your head.

My approach to this is to just use AR inhibitors in the front.

If you are asking me, you are asking a guy who never had a shed in his life, except the hair loss before treatments. Finasteride 1.25 mg stopped my hairloss. Nothing dramatic happened. When I read all these posts of people shedding on finasteride, I thought they all were lying and trying to scare newbies away from finasteride. Now I'm starting to think some people shed and gaine in cycles. The fact still remains that 17% of men continue to loose hair in the back while on propecia, and we don't know the percentages for dutasteride, just the hair counts. Who knows what group you are in. If you stop taking 5ar inhibitors, you will loose a lot of hair and be where you would have been without them in about a year.
