Some of you have asked me to tell my story again, since I am a veteran finasteride user.

There isn't much to tell, really: I've been taking Proscar 1/4 for over 13 years, added Rogaine foam to my regimen and that's it. Some side effects but nothing too serious. I started losing my hair at 17, today I'm 36 and still a NW2. There is recession in the front but the crown looks perfect, thank God for that.

(The photo is weird and I look like a psycho but I couldn't get any sleep last night and decided to take a photo for HairLossTalk.com lol)

Was it only your hairline that was receding or did you also have signs of thinning elsewhere?

Just the hairline.

I could grow my hair longer and conceal it but it doesn't bother me anymore. Maybe one day I'll do a hair transplant or some stem cell treatment to fill in the bald areas but for now I'm happy with the results.

the question is, how can we know if u were going to go bald, or if u just freaked out over the beginnings of a mature hairline, took finasteride, and 13 yrs later claimed it stopped progression.

maybe ur as recessed as u were ever going to be finasteride or no finasteride. still happy for u though. i wish i had that much hair.

Believe me, I was going bald, no question about it. I was losing enormous quantities of hair every day, even my hairdresser freaked out when she saw it. finasteride stopped hairloss and also improved the appearance of the hair, it's much less greasy now.

It probably isn't working as well as it used to, the hairline is still receding but probably much slower than without any treatment.

Wow from 17 to 32 and you basically beat male pattern baldness. You are lucky as hell, I started around the same age(16) and now i'm 24 and struggling to keep a NW3.

Hey Jimmy, what treatments are you using? It seems like we are on the same boat, I am also 24 and thinning in the NW3 pattern

When I saw your hair I definitely thought you were young 20's. Would never have guessed you were in your 30's.

Hair looking really good OP.

You said no serious sides on finasteride... could you elaborate please? What sides did you get, when and when did they pass? Thanks !

Good on you man, no one would ever think you're balding.

How did your hair look like before starting treatment and how aggressive was your hair loss?

Thanks for your support guys, it means a lot to me.

There were definitely some sexual side effects but not too serious: loss of libido (or maybe that's just aging, I don't know) and watery semen.

I'm thankful we have finasteride but it's definitely a dangerous drug. I take all those negative testimonials very seriously.
