So at the age of 21, my hair has reached the stage of being impossible to style. I have two older brothers, oldest 29, other is 23 who have minimal hair loss if any, and my father didn't start losing his hair until his 40's, and no hair loss on my mothers side of the family. My hair loss hasn't really noticeably changed for at least a year and a half now, but i believe started when I lost a colossal amount of weight with a very unhealthy diet, practically starving myself for around 8 months while running for at least 1 and a half hours every day, I must have lost about 7 stone in weight, and i believe the protein nutrients i lost while starving caused the hair loss i have now. It was bittersweet to say the least after losing so much weight yet losing my hair. My hair loss greatly effects my self esteem and confidence, I wear a hat any chance i get as I hate my hair so much. I started using Kirkland minoxidil liquid solution twice daily last November but have seen no results. What step can I take next, I'm a complete novice and it all confuses me if i'm honest, so any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. As you will see in my photo's my hair is in a terrible state, i have barely any hair down the middle and either side there is thin hairs growing which gives me hope.

Looks like male pattern baldness to me and that won't be caused by any nutrients deficit or weight loss. Your only real hope as with inflicted with male pattern baldness is to get on the big three, finasteride, nizoral and minoxidil. Minoxidil would be a nightmare to use for someone who has such long hair, unless you're willing to cut your hair short. Pretty much your best bet is finasteride (propecia) order it online and hopefully you don't get sides. Of course stop if you do.

Can you recommend any sites to buy propecia off?

Is it worth going to see a GP in order to get something prescribed?

I recommend that you see your GP or a hair transplant surgeon and have them write you a prescription for Finasteride (brand name Propecia), and start taking the medication, all as soon as possible so your hair doesn't keep getting worse. I definitely see thinning due to male pattern baldness.

How easy is it to get prescribed, and what do I cite as the reason for wanting it?

Preferably go make an appointment to see a hair transplant surgeon since they are much more knowledgeable about genetic hair loss than a general practitioner. You should have no trouble getting a prescription for Finasteride from a hair transplant surgeon since treating patients with hair loss is practically their specialization.

What AA said. I can personally tell you (as would other people here) that you are unlikely to get prescribed Propecia from your GP (my one told me there's nothing I can do about it) in the UK. A specialist is definitely your best bet, hair transplant surgeon and even a dermatologist (to a lesser extent).

Definitely agree with what he says...
