My testosterone levels after 10 years on PROSCAR

My doctor told me to do some tests recently and one of the items was the testosterone levels.

Well, after 10 years on PROSCAR (I'm not sure when I started the treatment, but I was in college back then so it was at least 10 years) everything seems to be normal. The good doctor told me my results were 'ok'; they weren't spectacular or anything, but they were acceptable.

«Total Testosterone: 531 ng/dL
20-49 years old: 286-1511
>50 years old: 212-742»

So, correct me if i'm wrong, but in a scale of 286-1511 I scored 531. It's not spectacular and I don't know if finasteride had any influence on these results (some of you have said it doesn't affect testosterone only DHT and it may actually increase testosterone levels).

Anyway, I don't intend to do any testosterone replacement therapy or anything like that. I heard it's effective but has disastrous results on your hair.

There is no telling how PROSCAR has affected you in my opinion,
since there is no way to tell where you would be had you not
been on it. If your health is good and you feel good I would not
worry about 531. Someone post a graph here last year or so and
testosterone levels fall off pretty quickly as you get into your 30's
as I recall.

Absolutely. I'm 32 so it's only natural that my testosterone levels start to decrease.

Flavio, how has your progress been since you started finasteride? What was your hair like when you started, and how is it now? Did you maintain? see any regrowth?

There was no regrowth but it preserved what I had. Proscar also improved the appearance of my scalp, it was too 'greasy' before.

Have you noticed any sides from the medications (lack of libido, etc)?

Thanks Mountinvan. I honestly don't know if I experienced any loss of libido. I knew there could be some side effects when I started the treatment, but I didn't think about it much. I was never impotent, though, and today I have a normal sex life.
