Acetylcysteine (there is a Wikipedia article)

in vitro, acetylcysteine inhibits the expression of Prostaglandine-E2 and COX-2

An anti-inflammatory effect as mode of action is being discussed.
It's very well tolerable with no associated serious side effects.

May it have some effect on hair and hair roots?

I've tried to post some links, but it is not possible.
You'll find the links in a similar post @btt.
