hello fellow victims of poor genes.

I've recently started to use nanofibers but I'm having some trouble getting them right, so I have a few question:

1 - which brand do you use? which is the best?

2 - is the locking mist necessary? If so, would a normal hairspray be adequete? How much spray do you put on?

3 - what is your fiber regimen? Do you comb your hair before or after applying the fibers, spraying the mist or putting on any products such as styling wax? Which order do you do it in?

4 - do you use a mirror to check if they are applied properly? Do you sprinkle them straight on to the head or put them on your hand first and pat them on?

5 - do you find that wind, rain or sweating ruins their effectiveness?

I use Toppik but haven't tried any other brands yet. I don't use the spray and haven't found any issues with rain, perspiration or wind :) for styling I blow dry, comb, straighten, apply toppik sprinkling/pressing it against my scalp, use a matte clay and then comb or brush again :) I always use mirrors, positioned so that I can see the back, or just hold one up.

is the Toppik spray better than the fibres?

There is no separate Toppik "spray" unless you are talking about Fullmore, which I wouldn't recommend at all. Now if you are referring to the Toppik Maximizer Sprayer, which you attach to a regular sprinkle bottle of Toppik fibers, I would whole-heartedly recommend getting one of those. That has been a lifesaver for me in getting a more directed blast of the fibers to where they need to be.

I have to add that if you can find one of the old Maximizer Sprayer tops(the ones that look like those old perfume sprayers with the rubber push bulb on one side and the nozzle on the other) get one of those. The new ones with the rubber push bulb on the top just don't give me the same control as to how much product comes out of the sprayer as the old one does. It also pushes out too much air with the product. That's been my experience anyway.

I'm currently using the following routine:

- Apply dermmatch with wet brush
- Hairdry
- Comb
- Go to bed
- Wake up the next day and apply Hair-Tek fibers with their spray applicator. Hair Tek fibers are made of much thinner particles, almost dust like. When I wake up the day after showering and applying dermmatch, my scalp is already showing some oil production, and the chalky dusty dermmatch look is wearing off. This is the perfect setting to apply the hair-tek fibers, as they will easily adhere to my scalp and hairs. This enhances my hair thickness a LOT.

I like your hair routine, hairze. I've toyed with the idea of just spraying on some Prothik, or my Dermmatch when I used it, before I go to bed at night and then finishing off the "detailed" work the next morning. Trouble is I have this tendency to want to get everything done at once, so I have never tried that yet.

1. I use Xfusion which is the same as Toppiks and made by the same company but is cheaper. It usually sells for $23 to $25 on Amazon for 12 ounces but I see the price now is $35 (it tends to fluctuate) so hopethey aren't gonna pull the same thing like Dermatch when they increased the price from $28 to $45 all at once.

2. I use hair spray to make sure it stays in place. Don't waste your money on expensive stuff. Walmart sells "Consort for Men" hair spray. Get the "Unscented Extra Hold". It is only about $3.30 for 8.3 ounces. Get the spray can not the pump bottle as the pump splatters big droplets all over everything within a 4 for radius. You want the fine mist from the can.

3. I apply it before combing my hair on the balding area to stick to the fine hairs. Then I use hairs spray to keep them in place. I then then comb my longer hair over it and then spray it again to keep those hairs in place. Sometimes I fill in some more afterwards, but by doing it this way, I know I have good coverage underneath as there are no regular long hairs to block it getting to the finer hairs at the scalp.

4. Yep I use a mirror. Sprinkle them on directly. Tilt the can at varying angles to control the amount that comes out. Once on your head, give them a light pat to settle them and to get them to fall to lower hairs underneath.

5. No. I have sweated pretty good and worried about it running brown down my head but so far no issue. I think the hair spray helps prevent this from happening.
