I saw nanogen's new nanofibre bottles in a shop today and they now have some kind of metal strip attached - when you touch the strip with your finger it's supposed to 'charge' the fibres electrostatically meaning they'll bind to your hair better or something

cynical marketing gimmick or genuine innovative advance? :hmmm:

any physicists care to weigh in?

Haven't they always had that strip on the bottles? I think the bottle of Nanogen I bought years ago had that "electrostatic charging" strip on it.

Doesn't matter though in my opinion. The only thing that is truly going to bind fibers to your hair well is hairspray. Think about it. How long does the charge last when you rub a balloon on your hair... not very long.
