Nanogen pillow talk

I know most on here think this is the best of the bunch with concealers. But my first gripe is like with all of them, the pillow effect. You can't escape the deposit on the pillow even if you stay on one side all night, or put some extra spray hold on before bed, which I've tried also....... Always a fair old skid of it. My question being, we read about how bad this stuff is to breath in when applying, but what about when you get a face full of it and probably do breath it in when it's lying on your pillow all night?

Secondly, I'm still not over pleased with the sand like ash appearance when you pour it on, I've noticed this exact same look on their video on their site, when they apply, and it looks a bit odd.

Thirdly, if anyone can tell me who uses Dermatch, does that scrape off in the night too, and do you wake up in tact using that stuff or is it the same story, No escape the morning after?

The pillow thing isn't great, but to be honest even if I don't use the Nanogen my hair falls onto the pillow anyway! :(

I don't think it's bad to breathe in at all, it's only protein and some colours, I've been using it for quite a few years now, must have inhaled a good kilo! And I'm fine, not coughing up hairballs or anything :) So I wouldn't worry about your pillow for that reason.

2 tips:

a) Dark coloured pillows, very alluring, don't show fallen hair either (which aslo isn't attractive)
b) Washing your hair before bed. Many people say washing yoru hair daily is bad for it, but there's not a shred of evidence for it, and I just prefer to be clean!

I did use dermmatch, it's pretty good but you can still get it off on pillows and your hand, and it really sticks to the pillow if you do. Dermmatch is the main reason I wash my hair before sleeping.

Hope this helps the problems mate!

Hi Lee, thanks for the reply, yeh I've got black sheets on at the moment, a fair old med brown skid on there in the morning.

Washing hair night before is defeating the object for me, I'm talking about waking up with 'another' and not having that problem.

So is it worth giving derma a go? Is it more of a painted head look than the fibres? And worse on the pillow too huh?

I always think that by the time you're in the bedroom with "another" appearance count for relatively little! They'll find out sooner or later I feel.

A little dermmatch is quite good if you spread it fairly thinly, it just reinforces the look the fibres give. And if you sprinkle nanogen over the top it doesn't look like paint (which it does by itself!)

But yes, it does come off on pillows and unlike the fibres doesn't come off easily, if I forget to wash my hair I can brush 95% of the fibres off really easy, but the dermmatch needs a hot wash or I even had to throw the pillow case away once.

They show pictures on the Dermatch site that give it the same effect as if you were using fibres, like you could use it alone, on people with very little hair. Is that all rubbish then?

Dermmatch stains the pillow cover, but it doesn't get into the eyes or nose. If you move around a lot, then maybe you'll have to do some re-touching in the morning. After washing the pillow cover, the stain is gone !

Well if you are using concealers, i think you can't continue with the same lifestyle as before. A little compromise is necessary from yr side !!

I know Zac, like all of us, trying to hang on to the youthful appearance of actually having more hair than we actually do. Was just confused by the Derma, It shows it doing the same job as the fibres, but from what I've heard on here, you guys all use it with the fibres.

I don't wear any hair fibers to bed. My wife already knows I'm losing my hair, so it's not like I'm fooling her by covering up, anyway. It's people who don't know me as well that I'm concerned with. I put the stuff on in the morning (or just wear a bandana) and wash it out in the evening.

I'm sure Nano is the worst one for coming off on the pillow, by a mile.... It's the messiest one of the lot. None of the others I try come off as much. I'm not saying the back of my head looks any better in the morning with the other concealers, but none deposit half as much as Nanogen does, and it's sprayed the same amount as the others for hold.

Washing in the morning before applying, then having to wash it out again before bed is just a bit of a pain, and too much shampooing

You don't have to use shampoo to wash it out in the evening. I know they say these fibers stay on until you use shampoo, but I've found that to be untrue. Just take a shower. If that by itself doesn't work, use a gentle shampoo in the evening.

Yeh, it does come out with water, maybe not every last bit if you've used hairspray to keep it on, but Nano definitely lets a load come out before the shampoo.

It's just a lazy thing too. I'll keep it in and come night time, I may not want to be bothered........ Am I bad

I've been using both nanogen and dermatch recently thanks to a short hair style that has exposed my crown.

I lock that sh*t in with some maximum hold hairspray after applying it and I can say for a fact that I've never had any spots. In the morning the crown looks a tiny bit thinner than it did when first applying, but that's it. No spots. I've also worn a hat for a long period and when taking it off it still looks perfect.

Every fibre I've tried always rubs off, Nano, Toppik, Super Million. They ALL come off and leave the spotty patchy horrible looking head. And I use Ultra strong sprays too.

But............. I've never used dermatch with them?
