Hi, i'm new to the forum and also i just started using Regaine foam 5% last week on both head (diffuse thinning) and beard (age 30 and not completeted beard). I wanted to ask you for a shampoo that i ordered and waiting the Nanogen Thickening Shampoo, if anyone has ever use it and his experience with it as i wanted to have a thickening effect and also a Minoxidil compatible shampoo to use for the treatment and this one says that is suitable for Minoxidil users .

I have also started using a Dermaroller 1.0 mm once a week on my scalp and wanted to ask if anyone have seen results with this or is a waste of time.

Thanks in advance!

I have been using 0.5mm dermaroller on my scalp for almost 12 months.
It is difficult to say whether this has added to my maintenance,as I have also been on Finasteride+Minoxidil...
However, I do like the way dermarolling keeps the scalp clean. The way I see it is: it is much cheaper compared to other forms of treatment, and there is very little on-going cost once you bought the roller. It seems to make sense that improved blood-flow should encourage hair growth, plus you can also use it on your face to add to the dead skin shedding for a more radiant appearance. I would continue and see how it goes.

I heared 1.5mm is viewed as effective (studies conducted with that depth)

how is your treatment going with those tools ?

@barfacan : i'm going to stick to the 1.0 mm for the moment as i'm not even sure if this stuff is working and there is some pain doing it. i hope its working!

I would say the only mild success was noticed 4-6 months after starting Finasteride 1mg/day (I had been on Minoxidil 5% alone for over 10yrs prior to that with no success). Dermarolling began 2-3 months after Finasteride, so I guess it's fair to say Finasteride did majority of the work. To complicate it more, I began on RU in Sep 2016.
It's been a year into the course of Finasteride now, and I feel that whatever ground I have gained is being maintained, but the growth stagnated. It appears as though some of the vellus fluff on the temples turned darker and visible (which makes the scalp no longer ugly-shiny), but Im not sure if I can call them terminal as they don't seem to grow in length.
You've just inspired me to order 1mm dermaroller. I shall approach with caution and keep an eye on any progress.

Yeah if you've been on finasteride its hard to tell if Dermarolling helped you. i think 1.0mm will be better as hair treatment because its not too small or too big (dangerous) . btw you said you were on minoxidil for 10 years with no success! why with no success you didnt dropped use after 1st year of no results ? did it worked for some time and then stopped working or it was your aggressive male pattern baldness that was overtaking the situation ?

--- as for the sake of the thread i ask the forum. did any of you here have experience with thickening shampoo similar to the ingredients i posted on my first post of Nanogen thickening shampoo ? thanks!

To be quite honest, the only reason I kept on Minoxidil for so many years was due to ignorance and empty hope that 'it's not looking too bad now, and I might not lose more' which stopped me from seeking other interventions. I wish I could turn back time and began dermarolling and Finasteride much sooner :/.
