NANOGEN vs. HAIR SO REAL

Hi, guys.

I'm trying to compare Nanogen to Hair So Real and want to know what the differences are. I use Nanogen but it is pretty expensive and one can only lasts ~ 3 weeks. I have not used Hair So Real and would like to hear from anyone who has used both. Hair So Real seems cheaper, about ~ $17, and gives you 28 grams per can according to their website. That's more than Nanogen gives you which is about 10 grams for $24 ( I think they are in the procress of offering a bigger size but it will cost more). I use Nanogen now and am very happy with the product but I wish it wasnt so relatively expensive for the amount they give you.

Are the two products equally effective? Any caveats to buying Hair So Real?

Never used Hair so Real, but I can tell you the larger size Nanogen is a nightmare to use, It doesn't come out properly. It's rubbish

Thanks for writing, Esprit. Yes, I just heard that about the new Nanogen. The regular one is not easy to dispense either, but I like the results it yields. I wonder if hair So real uses the same top.

Anybody else use Hair So Real and like it?

Hi Doug,

I'm a long-term Nanogen user and had the same problem with the one before last that I bought, it didn't come out the jar very well - is that the problem?
I spoke to them and they said it was something to do with charges and they were sorting it, I didn't understand and to be honest don't really care as long as it's fixed. So I bought another one this week and it's actually better? Definitely comes out finer again so I'm happy.

I tried loads of other brands, I think HSR was one of them and they were all rubbish :shakehead:. If you want something a little cheaper Toppik's my second favourite and is a little cheaper depending on where you get it from.

I thought it was just me...!! Where else has that been said Doug?

Yes the standard size one can be tricky too, I have had problems with it, but this new larger version, either nothing comes out or if you shake too much as you have to with this one, then a bucket load comes out. Angle positioning is very bad.

Something else which is stupid is the new see thru window to see what's left in the can, when it only shows a few millimetres at the bottom. It should at least show from half way up. Ridiculous

I prefer Nanogen to all the others - yes I've tried them all!!!!! but i was worried for a minute with their new jar. It did seem there was a problem with fibres coming out as easily as before. I spoke to the company too and they said they had encountered some issues with the first new batch but it was close to resolution. They seem to have fixed it. Fibers come out perfectly in new jar I got Friday. It looks like the jar has been slightly modified from the first launch (maybe they got the iPhone 4 people in!!). The window that Esprit talks about is now double the size and it's very good I have to say. They also have these metal studs underneath and some scoops out of the sides of the jar. If you put the two versions of the new jars together you can easily see the difference. Phew.
