Interesting supplement that contains NDGA: http://antiaging-systems.com/a2z/acf228.htm

From the LEF forum: http://forum.lef.org/default.aspx?f=35&m=64707

An earlier study was published conducted by Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology; The Ben May Institute for Cancer Research; and The Tang Center for Herbal Medicine Research, University of Chicago which demonstrated a direct inhibition of 5?-reductase type I, which can prevent the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). It has been well documented that DHT is the primary cause of androgenic alopecia among other androgen-dependent disorders such as prostate cancer. The study states (paraphrased):

"Certain natural products contain components that are inhibitors of 5?-reductase. Some compounds were more effective inhibitors of the type 1 isozyme, including nordihydroguaiaretic acid NDGA among others"

This STUDY lists the radical scavenging ability of NDGA. In some ROSs, NDGA was more efficient than the more common antioxidants: lipoic acid, N-acetyl-cysteine and glutathione.

As a antioxidant for skin, This STUDY states NDGA was 100 times more potent than vitamin E, 15 times more potent than vitamin C and twice as active as epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG).

For life span-enhancement, in an very early STUDY NDGA extended the lifespan of the mosquito by up to 64%. In a more recent 2008 STUDY NDGA demonstrated a modest increase in mice lifespan.

See the link/forum...each STUDY can be clicked on..to see the studies.

AC Net contains oleanolic acid, which inhibits 5-A reductase to fight hyper seborrhea, while the NDGA contained is a cell growth regulator that inhibits hyperkeratosis (excessive build-up of skin cells on the surface of the skin) and inflammation. The AC NET is formulated in an osmotic gel, which also helps to control bacterial growth.

Olive leaf extract is also included in this compound and has superb anti-inflammatory as well as antimicrobial properties, containing oleuropein, 11-demethyl oleuropein , 7,11-dimethyl ester of oleoside, ligustroside, oleuroside and unconjugated secoiridoid.

It also contains triterpenes and flavonoids such as rutin, apigenin and luteolin glycosides.

At a 3% inclusion of AC NET in our products, a reduction of excess sebum (skin oil) of 54.1% was achieved - this result was achieved by means of 5a-reductase inhibition

Someone on HLH is claiming that NDGA might be helping (he said good results). Sourcing from Larrea Tridentata extract. Add this to the list of things to watch and see if it pans out.

A topical solution of Larrea Tridentata with caffeine. Imo, he's a reputable poster there and has been on at least one or two of the experimental chemicals that people were ordering on forums. He dropped them it seems and is on a topical with the above two as the main ingredients (with some other stuff). His post below.

babarbea:
I have make my treatment on phlojel vehicle
chaparral, pure cafféine powder, rosemary and lot other products

His sig:
hair loss back from NW7 to NW5A on 8 months

I guess we'll see if it works as more people try it out.
