Like the title says I switched from Finasteride to Dutasteride hoping to improve on some gains I made off of finasteride, however I feel that I may of made a mistake as my hair has gone downhill since starting dutasteride.

Finasteride - 23rd November 2015 - 11th October 2016 (10 and 1/2 months)
Finasteride/Dutasteride Alternate Days - 12th October 2016 - 7th November 2016
Dutasteride - 8th November 2016 - Present (7 and 1/2 Months)

Do you think I should maybe switch back over to Finasteride or do you think I should carry on with Dutasteride and hope for an improvement?

Also, judging by the pictures do you think that the hair that I have that isn't effecting by balding is thick or thin?

Start:

3 Months finasteride:

8 Months 2 Weeks finasteride:
8 months (2).JPG 8 months (5).JPG 8 months (7).JPG 8 months (8).JPG 8 months (9).JPG 8 months (12).JPG 8 months (13).JPG

7 Months DUTASTERIDE:

I have quite a good method of covering up my hairline as you can see from the horrible tanlines.

The only sides I have to report were weaker erections for a while but that has since improved.

Thanks.

first thing you got great result with finasteride !
do you have baseline pics of your crown ? your crown look good despite your major hairline recession ( you are lucky )

then it is hard to tell if you are better or worst with duta ; did you get a shedding with duta ?

did you get sides with duta ? ( gynecomastia , libido ? ) .

maybe you don't realize this , but the result you got with propecia are clearly amazing .
this drug is mostly for maintenance and doesnt work well for the temple . and you got a great densification of all your balding areas , you are really lucky to respond well to the drug ( despite your hairloss at a young age )

Thanks for replying so quickly!

I know, I guess I got greedy and just wanted more so I jumped to Dutasteride. I kinda think this was a mistake though, Do you think I got worse after starting dutasteride?
My hair was fine on dutasteride for the first couple of months, there was no change to my hair at all but since then I feel like my receding points have gotten worse and my forelock has thinned.

I haven't experience any sides at all with finasteride or with dutasteride, I guess i'm lucky in that sense as I know this can be a problem.

Do you think it would be a good choice to switch back to finasteride or carry on with duta for a little while longer?

Here is a timeline of my crown for you:

man you got great regrowth ! i am jealous .
for the duta pics , the lighting is stronger so i don't know , but it seems that you are worse with duta ( not sure ), this is really strange , because duta is supposed to be more powerful .

You are sure you don't see more shedding with duta ?

At the time I think I was just greedy and wanted more which I think was a mistake but looking at the pictures now I definitely got a lot of growth and thickness.

It is very strange that my hair seems to have gotten worse on duta and I can't think of any idea of why it would have either, I guess that is why I posted here to see if anyone has any explantion.

Maybe I am just going through a big shed which is haven't noticed. I try my best not to pay attention to my balding every single day as I know regrowth doesn't just happen over night.

What do you think I should do, stay on dutasteride for the time being to see if there is any improvement or switch back over to finasteride where I know I can get good regrowth and maintain?

dutasteride is a strong drug ( high risk of gynecomastia ), but it is supossed to work better .
But in your case i would have kept taking propecia for at least 1 year or 2 to see the full effect .

In reply to your other post I am 22 years old (closer to 23) and I have been taking minoxidil since I first started.

I agree that I should have stuck with propecia, do you think it would be wise to switch back onto it or stick with duta?

Hey man, sorry for the really late update.
Never come on here anymore.

I went back on propecia and managed to get some good regrowth.

Had a hair transplant as well which has sorted everything out for me :)
Thanks Steve! How long did you go before switching back to finasteride? 8 months? Did your situations continue to get worse?
