I'm 23 and I've been receding at the temples for a couple years now. Hair is thick on rest of head... Don't believe it runs in family (don't know father), but pretty sure it's male pattern baldness. I am really self conscious about it, and nothing I do seems to be working. I have tried Nioxin, Procerin, and Scalp Med. I was going to try Rogain foam, but it is only good for top of hair, not frontal receding. Does anyone know why something would only work on the vertex, but not front? I would love to know the answer to that question. What should I try next? I also bought a vibrating scalp massager, that doesn't seem to be doing anything. Thanks for any advice. I'm in stage 2 of the Norwood scale if it helps. My stylist said if they follicles are dead, they will never grow again... how do I find out if they are in fact dead and what kills them?? I bought some saw palmetto, but most resources say it's ineffective. What do you do that works? Thanks

Have a look at a product called Spectral DNC. I have just started on it and from what I've studied it seems to do a good job of temple regrowth.

Ur buying the wrong stuff.

minoxidil (rogaine) does work on the temples. I am getting positive results, lots of other people did too. Its just because Pfizer did not test it on that area, so they can not make any claims.

From personal experience minoxidil also made my hairline slightly worse, I think its because of the initial shedding which will regrow the shed hair stronger, so Im told. Because I been on it for 7 or 8 weeks I cant quite claim that success yet, but I do have new hair in temple area.

DHT kills your follicles, minoxidil does not address DHT, but Propecia does, so depending on how you feel about your hairloss you might also look into that. Check out the relevant sections of these forums.

If you're only a NW2, your follicles probably aren't dead. Follicles miniaturize successively in the balding process so that the hairs they produce are eventually cosmetically insignificant in terms of length and diameter. It takes quite a while, however, for a follicle to completely die. And any follicle that is miniaturized has the inherent capacity to expand into a terminal follicle again, though it will probably require a lessening of DHT's influence (oral finasteride, topical spironolactone, some of the components of spectral) and some growth stimulants (namely minoxidil).

WAKE UP...when I mentioned to click on my regimen, it means click where it says "VIEW MY REGIMEN" to see what I'm doing for hair loss/growth. I do not discuss anything in the hair loss forums here other than hair loss/growth.

Hope that the treatments work is our only way to overcome baldness. We all go through this same balding sh*t. You will find a lot of support on this board. Good Luck, mate!

spectral dnc

Hey everyone... Just ordered some Spectral DNC from Folica. Seems promising, but I will have to make sure my expectations aren't unrealistic... I'm just glad that my hair is very thick over most of my head and I just have temple recession. Which will stop and then reverse! Wish me luck!
