thanks for this.

actually its not too bad, i was expecting more, looking at the baldofevil link, there is defently a lot of cases, but not too many, i was afraid there would be 50+, but there really is only 20 at most throughout the media, but what is upsetting is of course the other bald men wear wigs to hide baldness so that actors/tv show people can be "normal" people that have hair, so that they don't have the baldness deformity.

but check this link

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/M ... dOfAwesome

see, we have an awesome section, but i'd still say there is only 3 postive cases of bald men in movies, using colong tigh from BSG and general hammond from SG-1 aren't really good role models, the doctor from star trek voyager is cool (and actually looks really good), but i doubt i'd see anyone with that hairline being treated fairly or without prejudice from age 25-40.

Its not just baldness its unnatractivness in general and it also applies to fatness and ugliness ect.

Its always been ingrained in society unnatractive people are bad attractive people are good.
How often have you seen Brad Pitt in a movie playing a negative role? He's always the hero/good guy.

yes that is one thing, but often times the problem is the social stereotype to having "no hair" and what it is meant ot mean in society.

for example kane from c ommand and conquer is bad (not unatrive, just seen as bad), his social reason for being bald is he is an evil dictactor trying to take over the world.

if he had hair he'd be a normal guy, same with willis its like if your bald its meant to mean something different to normal people, that is why when he is bald he is doing something, when he is in wig he is normal guy, if your bald and your in the media (high ranking tv show, movie) there better be a damn good reason for you being bald (villian, anti hero, middle aged hitman - willis statham, general weakness ala george constanza, your a monk, a senior citizen etc.)

it's like how in lost they had about 30+ male characters, they all had hair becuase they were young adults (19-40), only bald man was middle aged locke at 47 and was protrayed as the "wierd" one socially.

so rather than being conventionally unatractive, its more a social stereotype and not fitting in with what the media expects you to have, hair.

overall the media avoids pre-mature male pattern baldness almost indefentely, ocasioanally reseved for certain men (like all 4 or 5) but they are all 47+ and have somethign "off" about them and that's it. :shakehead:

its clear by society that we are unwelcome, unless we are 47, look great with "it", and are dressed a certain way, carry guns, know kung fu, and have blown something up recently.

I was very very disappointed that 24 year old Prof Xavier was shown with full hair in the recent XMen movie. That guy is like one of my role models, him being bald and brainy. It killed me to see him with hair.

yes i was going to check that out, i heard he was playing a young adult there, seems like he has hair (of course, becuase its not possible to be bald 25-35).

what is even worse is holywood doesnt even show diffuse thinning nor high hairlines (often), yes they use willis for NW3 but its pretty rare as most people look stupid with that hairline anyway.

im currently documenting all the cases of bald people in tv, its pretty scarce (most people in wigs), but when it does happen (all 10 cases maximum) they are all

1)at least middle aged (47+)
2)have "something" about them ( a special power, or an "out there" occupation like hitman, an evil person)
3) never lead roles (except for 3 guys)

the only "young adult" cases is f*****g george constanza (30-35) who wears checked shirts and glasses, is short, might as well be 45 (+ loser) anyway.

Its a great movie. I liked it a lot. Xavier is great. They should have had him bald.

Instead all we get is a joke at the end about him possibly going bald in the future.

A joke.

F you director. F you.

You have taken my hero and made his baldness a joke.

F you.
