Hi my name is Janelle,

I have a 4 yr old daughter who has had problems with her hair since she was very little... It does not grow very much, its very thin and if u pull on a couple of strands on her head they may come out very easy.. She does not have bald patches but her hair looks like she is about a 2yr old. She is 5 this year and my older daughter at this age had thick long hair. Her hair looks like its still baby hair at times and looks split. She is very down about this as she wants long hair like her sister..... Her hair will not grown below her neck. I have no idea what to do, i went to the dr as she has epilepsy and i thought it was her medication. Originally she was on Epilm but i changed that yrs ago as her hair was terrible and i thought it was the medication, but she is now on tegrotol and its still doing the same thing 2yrs later.... He gave her a blood test but nothing has came back abnormal. Does anyone have any ideas? We live in Cairns and do not know of a specialist to help her.

Thanks for listening
Janelle

Re: New member Introduction

I'm really sorry to hear about your daughters hair and I know how frustrating it must be not being able to diagnose the problem. I've done some research and it sounds like it could be loose anagen syndrome, I don't have any experience of this condition myself but you can read about it here, here and you can also read about someone else's daughter experiencing this condition here ,maybe you'll find some information there.

Best wishes to you and your daughter!

HI Brucie,

Thankyou so much for that information, I appreciate your time in looking into this topic. WOW it definetly sounds like her.....I have read all the information and gone to the forum you told me about and there are other people with the same problems. I can now go to my Dr to see what he thinks. The other parents even have a drug called Minoxidil, so i will take that with me too.

Thankyou so much again. I will update again when i have more information
