16 is young but not too young to be experiencing male pattern baldness-I was 17 when it started.

Suggest you start with 5% minoxidil and nizoral shampoo every third day. The research section of ths site can provide the science behind these treatments as well as a great primer on male pattern baldness.

Give those treatments at least six months to work before deciding if they will work. They should.

Keep in touch here and we can help with other suggestions too.

Good luck

Welcome to the community mate.

Try out minoxidil, just gel your hair afterwards and nobody can tell the difference.

Your family doesnt even have to know about it since its only like $25 for a 4 month supply of The Kirkland brand. If you end up having any problems on that(extremely itchy scalp or what not) you can try Dr. Lee's version or even his product xandrox.

There are alot of options , just changing your diet isnt one of them, but that couldn't hurt, and working out will also boost your self esteem. Its not the end of the world, im 20, thinning as well. At first I was freaking out. Now? I'm trying to fix it thats all I can do, if it doesnt work out, oh well =P I tried. Way to many things in life to let hair loss stop you from enjoying them.

sorry about the rant =P

I'm with you on this SadSad. I'm the same age as you and I agree--it's complete bullsh**t. There must be something very wrong with our modern way of life if otherwise healthy men are losing their hair before age 40--at at an alarmingly increasing rate. Thankfully there are some things you can do.

I find that the very best way to deal with this, to stop worrying and get on with life, is to (and this may sound ironic coming from a hairloss treatment discussion forum) deal with and accept the fact that you WILL experience baldness, either full or partial. Then and only then can you calmly resolve to gather the information and execute a plan to put that off for as long as possible. This is the only way to go about this in a stress-free way, or else you will be desperate and horribly disappointed if things aren't going as you would like them to. It creates a win-win situation.

Accept the inevitable, do what you can to treat it, and focus on the positive in life.

Good luck man.

Good luck man.

I guess I am puzzled at this statement. Are you saying that male pattern baldness is increasing in today's modern age over say 50 yrs ago?

If so, how did you arrive at this conclusion?

I feel your pain. You could get Rogaine(the Wal-Mart brand) for pretty damm cheap. You can also get Nizoral(the Wal-Greens brand) for pretty damm cheap. If money aint a thang...buy the name brand stuff, but i really dont think there is a big difference, unless somebody can tell me otherwise. Goodluck man.
