I've been reading these posts recently and now finally a first post. Im losing hair at the temples and just above them as well and Im only 20. I've been using Propecia for about 8 months with no noticeable results. I tried generic rogaine for a couple months and got major dandruff so I quit that. Bought Nizoral and Progaine just recently. Is Progaine any good? I never hear anybody talking about it. Im going to start the BIG 3 on the first of August. What else could I add to help this PROBLEM. I'll eventually post pics of before and after. And what does SOD mean?
Thanks and hope I dont get bashed. Take it easy on the new guy.

If you've been able to slow your loss or maintain your hair while on Propecia, then it *is* showing results. Propecia is not a hair growth stimulant. It only stops the continued negative progression.

Propecia can take up to 12 months to work in many individuals, so it is advised that you continue with it at least until that time.

Adding Rogaine in August (how do you plan to handle the flaking/itching caused the first time around?) will enhance your results, assuming you can keep your scalp condition calm and balanced. Other things like Nizoral and various lotions or shampoo's can assist with that.

You may experience shedding for awhile after adding rogaine. Stick with it, and you will need to give it an additional 6 months before you expect any results since you are adding more to the regimen.

I'm new to the game too. Just started treatments in the last week after lurking for a few weeks here. I realized in some pictures in the past months or so just how thin things had gotten and upon examining closer, I wanted to cry :freaked:

<burp>

Oh well, Either do something or quit the bitching I thought. So here I am and I'm learning alot.

Thanks for the help. But what about Progaine, is that any good. I bought the conditioner and the shampoo. Also what does SOD mean. Ive read it here and there, but not sure of the meaning.

Progain is a good shampoo that will cosmetically make your hair feel thicker. It will do nothing to help stop hair loss.

SOD:

3. SOD's - Also known as Super Oxide Dismutase, these hair loss treatments work by handling the immune response which occurs as a result of excessive DHT in the follicle. When cells sense a foreign body, they release Super Oxide, which typically help defend the body against invading viruses, cells, and foreign tissues. SOD's reduce the presence of this Super Oxide, thus reducing the body's desire to reject the follicle. It's yet another "angle" proven to work in fighting hair loss. SOD's are kind of a hybrid treatment because they also have growth stimulation properties, as well as anti-inflammatory properties.
