well my story is im 21 and ive started receding at the hairline and thinning at the crown. my dermatologist prescribed minoxidil 5% and i just bought it, its a liquid not a foam. now ive read online that some of the minoxidil side effects include lower blood pressure difficulty breathing chest pains... my dermatologist told me that its bullshit and only true for the minoxidil pill, the liquid isnt absorbed into the blood stream (or something like that). however im a bit of a hypocondriac and would like some confirmation to this?
im under stress alot of the time im starting a very high stress career (so they tell me) and im also doing alot of high intensity training, can this be a bad combination?
btw i refused to do propecia because of its side effects.
thanks for the help!

first of all, propecia doesn't have side effects. Some people have a reaction, yes. But the way you wrote it, it seems you think that getting those "side effects" is a normal or expected part of the treatment and it's just not.

Anyway, you might want to try the Foam minoxidil as I hear its soooooooo much better in almost every way.

I don't want to argue with your derm as I don't know much about how minoxidil works or what it was originally intended for, but I haven't read many stories of pains or breathing problems. I have seen some though.

i guess i should have said "adverse effects", while its rare some people (apperantly) experience erectile dysfunction, low sex drive, and mental side effects, and some peoples symptomes did not improve after they stopped using the drug... which might not even be the fault of the drug but i just rather not f*** with sh*t like that... i want to restore my hair so i CAN get laid after all.
you said that youve seen these symptomes in people who used minoxidil? :freaked2: how bad was it (did they got hospitalized)? did they quit using minoxidil? did the symptomes go away?

they weren't "hospitalised" bad, no. mostly I've read that the symptoms stopped after a while of use (they didn't quit). I've never read anything about permanent side effects. Common sense tells me this isn't possible anyway.

on the propecia, i really dont believe (again, common sense) that any side effects are permanent. and if I were in your shoes, I'd try it before dismissing it. it's really the best hair loss defence out there and retaining is easier than regrowing.
