Go and talk to your doctor first.

it should be ok, but there are some issues to do with hormonal development which you should not ignore.

maybe you can use a topical treatment for 1 or 2 years, then change to finasteride.

Being 17 I would not use finasteride unless you get your doctors full support. Your way to young to be messing with your hormones your still developing into a man. However, there are other routes you could take. I would look into Tricomin or Revivogen to start. More so Revivogen because your tackling the dht issue.
