Hello all,
this by far the most informative site and forum I have found yet, thanks.
I'm a 21 year old male with a receding hairline, So far not to much thinning.
There is a lot of information to digest so I was wondering if these 2 treatments were number 1 compatible and no2 sound like im on the right track.
Rogaine for Men 2% and Crinagen Scalp Therapy.
I,m the sort of person who doesnt take anything bigger than an asprin so I dont think i want to be taking pills or using anything with potenial side affects. As I understand these are two relatively benign products with minimal if any side affects?
Would they be compatible ?

Thanks alot

First thing to do is to forget about the 2% and get the 5% if you decide to use minoxidil. Believe me 2% is a waste of time for a receding hairline. And as for crinagen, well I don't know if that's going to do sh*t for a receding hairline.

Overall, I know you don't want to take propecia, so minoxidil is of course the second best alternative(so they say). But just for a receding hairline is nuts. Starting minoxidil for minor recession is like selling you soul to the devil, with a dam good chance it won't work. So is taking propecia, but at least it has a higher chance of working.

If you go your decided route, then go 5%, crinagen and use nizoral. Run, no sugars, low carbs and stay positive.

Later and good luck.

Thanks bob,
I;ll definately bear that in mind. My thought was perhaps that minoxidil would stop the process. As frankly if I dont grow any hair back thats not a problem.
Also I was interested to see that sugar, carbs and excercise play a part I was under the impression that diet had little or nothing to do with hair loss.
I,m pretty active but i can cut the sugars back.
Thanks for the advice as crinagen seemed the most appealing being all natural.

Once again many thanks

I agree somewhat. If you are satisfied with your hair condition as it in now, with only a slight amount a regrowth needed, then I would go with propecia. If this is not enough for you after a time being, then you may add minoxidil. Although not as effective as on the crown supposedly, minoxidil does in fact work on the frontal hair line. Its working for me.

There's that term again. :)

Nothing is natural. Everything's a drug. Even herbs qualify as "drugs". Crinagen contains chemicals just like every other product on the planet, and those chemicals, like Finasteride (found in Propecia) happen to inhibit DHT (like Propecia). Since its a topical there is less chance of side FX and a potentialy higher chance of local effect rather than systemic like with a pill. However, you lack something major when going this route. Any evidence that it will actually work. You're taking a big risk, but this is your decision to make. We usually advise people try Propecia for 1 month and if nothing adverse happens, you're pretty much set for the next 7 to 10 yrs. If something adverse does happen, just stop taking it.

My advice, if you can afford it, is to go the Revivogen or Crinagen route with Topical spironolactone 5% lotion. I wouldn't use Rev/Crin without Topical spironolactone. That's just my opinion. To see why, please read this article:

http://www.hairlosstalk.com/newsletter/article233.htm

I would also be wary of Minoxidil right away. If you are happy to keep what you have right now, DHT inhibitors may be sufficient for you. However, in light of the fact that you're going the unproven route (also known as "natural" unfortunately), maybe minoxidil is a must for you. At least there's some data backing it.

If you were going to go the propecia route I would say Propecia only. Save the minoxidil for later.

Either way, Nizoral shampoo must be part of your regimen. Use once every 3 days and let it soak for the duration of your shower. You will shed. Things may get worse before they get better. Expect it. Ride it out. Don't freak out until its been at least 8 to 12 months. Take a bunch of pictures now and keep them. You will need them to help you keep your perspective in the coming months.

Please read the following article on exactly where the term "natural" comes in to (or doesn't come in to) hair loss treatments:

http://www.hairlosstalk.com/newsletter/article235.htm

Good luck, and keep us updated.

Firstly thank you all for taking the time to share your knowledge and expierence with me.

I will make a point of keeping an updated profile once I begin a treatment.

As I said I'm not awfully comfortable with taking Propecia, If I can avoid it. So I'm propably going to try Revivogen.
Is there information on topical spironolactone 5% on this site I ran a search but didnt seem to find it.

Also this may be a stupid question but is head and shoulders a viable alternative for Nizoral. I only ask as I'm in africa so its going to be a trick getting products any way.
Also as a side note any one familar with a product or even dietry supplement that makes hair grow longer faster? As apposed to regrow.
I ask as I have pretty long hair so i thought it cant hurt.
Now if I can just hang on to the damn stuff

Once again thank,s so much to everyone were it not for this site I would propably be rubbing sea urchin juice on my scalp :p. Also thanks for taking the time to answer my no doubt rehased and tiresome questions.

It will be interesting to see how things turn out in my case, because I am on minoxidil (6 mo) and picking up Crin.

I choose Crinigen over Revivogen (perhaps unwisely) because of the cost. I may switch down the road. It is in a way, good that many of us go different routes so we can at least share what combinations may or may not work.

I want a topical DHT blocker/inhibitor, and I figured it was either Revivo or Crin., so we shall see.

I need to take some damn pics
